I've never worked at one but I've always wanted to because I love animals. Unfortunatly the only pet stores I have around me are PetCo and PetSmart, I'm only 17 and you have to be 18 to work in those places.

My bestfriends boyfriend works at PetCo and he is always bringing home free animals (fish, rats, mice, lizards, snakes) plus he gets a 20% discount on all pet supply, which is helpful for all his animals. He loves his job, and I'm jealous!

I assume it would be a pretty misearble job if you hated animals.

Minimum wage here is $8.00 hrly and he just got a raise so I believe he is making $8.50 or $9.00 hrly.

Working at the pet store was awesome! Its good if you want to go into the vet business too because they will see you have an interest in animals.

But working at a pet store is good because you get to work with all kinds of animals and get used to the different moods of them. Plus its always good to see the face of someone when they buy a new pet!

I got paid about $8.75!
