What do you think abou this plot?

Question

The story starts off with Steven Ames. He has this accident one night and is dead for a minute or so. But the doctors bring him back but when they do he isn't quite the same.

Now he starts having these inhuman abilities and is convinced he's going crazy until he meets a mysterious old guy who tells him "he's been stained by death and altered by the light". He then proceeds to tell him that he wasn't supposed to come back and when he did Steven messed up one person's destiny.

The old man hints that that person was supposed to die but didn't because of him. Now Steven has to carry out the original plan (death) or else one of his own blood will be substituted to balance life and death.

It sounds intriguing.I think it would be even more interesting if Steven himself would have to die as opposed to someone close to him.We could then see Steven struggle with his own humanity versus his selfishness and desire to live at all costs.

A second death could be accidental and unintentional thus leaving Steven more clearly aware of the power of his choices  and how they affect the lives of others etc.
