  1. Homework at any age has to be beneficial and not just to busy the student.  The school may or may not have guidelines as to how much homework students should get.  At this age, homework can range from none to 30 minutes.  I feel that any homework given to 5 year old shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to complete and this would include the daily reading.  It is important to teach study habits, but also not to overwhelm the child with so much work that he develops negative feelings towards school.

  2. i think its bad they need rest !

  3. I live in Spain any my daughter started school here at 3, when she was 5 to prepare her to go into her junior class they started giving them 1 page of homework on fridays, to get them used to the idea that the next term they would get homework every day even if it is just a page that should take them maximum half and hour to do, they still have plenty of time to play etc, but they also learn that the first thing they should do when they get home is their homework after that they can play or watch tv. I does give the good learning skills and develops responsibility. I totally agree with it.

  4. 5 year olds do not get homework. They may be sent home with a book to read with their parents but that's about as far as homework goes at that age.

  5. I don't think they should get homework. Once they're home, they are supposed to play and have fun. Their rest of the day isnt that long anyway, because they need to go to be that early.

  6. When I was in grade two and three (same teacher) we had to do weekly book reports. This meant that every single week we had to read a book, draw a title page, write a character summary, write a plot summary, and write a conclusion. If you didn't do it the teacher yelled at you in front of the whole class.

I did NOT develop good study habits. I learned at an early age that all work is pointless, and that trying is for a**holes. Today I am a lazy man.

  7. there is not an agge for home work everyone can have home as far as u are still in school

  8. I feel like sometimes, even little kids need extra practice. If the homework is something like, "Practice writing your letter Ds" or "Tomorrow, you have to bring in a brown paper bag so we can make puppets" then it's acceptable. But I feel like countless worksheets should be saved for when the child gets older.

  9. It's both good and bad.

Good because it helps them learn more efficiently.

Bad because 5 years olds should be having fun and playing.

Kids these days are forced to grow up way too quickly.

  11. It is definitely exploiting the 5-year-old's childhood if you give him or her homwork. Childhood is all about fun and games, of using the imgination, of making friends, of being curious to learn about the stuff around you. But if homework comes in the way, then all of this is stopped. The 5 year olds' life becomes mundane and boring just like ours, with the loss of imagination and the cramming of facts, facts and only facts.

  12. I think that's terrible ... They're just getting used to school at that age . Isn't that a big enough step to take .

  13. i'd think its good, because it helps them adapt to when homework become compulsory to do.

  14. It depends.. I mean 5 year olds don't know that much so you can't like give them homework on algebra or anything. :P But creative stuff, like analyzing a painting. :)

  15. That's a bit young. But I guess it may help with time management and creating a good study environment at home.

  16. Homework should not a substitute for learning in class.

Some schools want homework for all the kids - for a few reason.  It promotes good study habits, it lets parents get an idea of what is going on in class.

A few easy things for a kindergarten student isn't bad, but it shouldn't take up their whole evening.  It should still be a positive experience, so that when the serious homework comes along later in life, they won't be immediately discouraged.

  17. The homework is not very extensive in Kindergarten, and I think it gives them good study habits.  xox

  18. They want them to learn early to be successful. It could be beneficial, but expecting too much from a child at such a young age could backfire into stress. Then again, the rate of difficulty in the homework is so low that it probably wouldn't cause stress.

  19. Its okay if its like drawing colouring and reading books but nothing like maths or english they should let kids be kids.

  20. i think its a load of bullshit, cause its not fair cause their only 5 year olds for crying out loud,  they should be having fun.

but i do understand about reading lol.
