What do you think about Chipper Jones to Mets?

Here is a crazy idea and probably won’t happen. What is the Mets sign Chipper Jones next year.

No matter how noble he is, he still has at least 10 mils market value that Braves have to pay him to resign him. However, it is doubtful that he is worth that much anymore because of his injuries. At moment, Braves is treating him as their most important bat and as long as he is in that weak line up, he always will be treated one. However, a few weeks of injuries from him, Braves line up set up will just not hold up. They just have to try something new to change their hitting philosophy because they are not a power hitting team any more and rely on Chipper to save the day will not work anymore.

Mets is different. The most important bat in the Mets is David Wright. Chipper is just an additional bat that still can produce 130 - 140 games a year. David is good enough atheist to play anywhere in the infield, as long as he is willing to do so, Chipper can still play third. In addition, it is almost certain that they are going to the bidding war for Mark Teixeira. Assume Mets win Tex this offseason. Their line up will look like this with Chipper:

Reyes

David

Carlos

Chipper

Tex

Church…

David does not have to hit second. Whatever the manager wants to do is fine. This means three power switching hitters in 3,4,5. That is just nightmare for opposing manager to match up relief pitching.

The Mets have good enough starting pitching anyway. With that kind of line up, they only need to have small upgrade in the pen. With Chipper gone, Braves will have 10 more mils to spare and try to get some big signing in the offseason, They should have a team with great pitching plus a run manufacturing and speedy team (not a Cox style though). It might be a good thing for both teams.

  1. Chipper Jones is my favorite player

My co favorite teams are the Phillies and the Rockies

    that dose not make sense

the mets have david wright why would they need chipper

  2. Chipper Jones would never sign with the Mets.

but if he would  (which is not going to happen) David Wright would still be batting 3rd. and you need to verify which carlos you mean because there are 2 on the team and you should also verify which Reyes you mean but I am almost certain you mean Jose but they just brought up this other Reyes from the minors.

But if Chipper were to play 3rd where would david wright go? 2nd? because Jose Reyes is not moving from Short and Delgado is going to stay at 1st so I guess you are saying Wright is going to go to 2nd.

And Mark Texeria is most likely going to the Yankees.

To be honest with you I don't see your points here sorry,

  3. Where would Chipper play?  You already said Wright is the best bat don't they both play 3rd base?  The Braves won't trade Chipper in the division.

  4. WASTE OF MONEY THEY WON'T AND DON'T NEED TO USE HIM

  5. They would have Wright and Chipper and no were to put 1 of them.

    No DH.

    No Shortstop.

    No 1B.

    Only Pinch hitter

  6. It won't happen, they won't send him to a team in their same division. If he is moved, it'll be to an AL club.

...and, why would they move David Wright???

  7. The Braves would never trade Chipper to a competitor in the same division.

  8. your right that wont happen

  9. Ok.  I'll answer your question but i'm more concerned with letting Mr Stiggon know that he's an idiot.  As far as Chipper in New York, never gonna happen...for a whole laundry list of reasons.  He's a brave. I know this is a new era but some players, for some teams, are untouchable unless they want to leave.  Chip doesn't want to go anywhere.  The Braves will offer him the money that it takes to keep him.  The Braves would never let him go to a division rival either, not even the measly Nationals.

  10. It doesn't make sense, especially if the Mets sign Teixeira. You say that Wright could play anywhere in the infield, but that simply isn't true. Just because he's the best third baseman in the league doesn't mean he could play second base, which would be the only place left for him in your scenario. Jones certainly couldn't play anywhere else except third or first (The usual dumping ground for players who can't hack other positions). In any case, there's no way the Mets fans would ever embrace Chipper, no matter what. The enmity for him is just too great.

  11. Can't see it happening.  David Wright is a lot younger.  Chipper is nearly the end of his career.  Anyway, Chipper is a Brave.  There are certain players that will always remain with certain teams.  Can you imagine Ted Williams in any other uniform but the Red Sox?
