Question:

What do you think about Derek Jeter's demand that the Yankees sign Barry Bonds???

Buster Olney of ESPN the Magazine is reporting that Derek Jeter walked into GM Brain Cashman's office and demanded that he sign Barry Bonds. Jeter is apparently disgusted that his team isn't among the league leaders in runs scored and team batting average. He's also disappointed with the lack of production from his DH's and is certain that an aging Bonds would be a major upgrade. Should Brian Cashman listen to Jeter and sign Bonds??

  1. even though anything isnt on espn about this it would be a great aqusition for the yankees who need a bat in the middle of the lineup that can get on base constantly. So i say yes, they should sign him.

  2. Simple show me an article

P.S I KNOW 100% Jeter would never say that

  3. I just went to ESPN.com. If this was close to being true, don't you think ESPN would have had this splashed all over the front page of ESPN.com? There's no report of this, no "breaking news" tag on the bottom line scoreboard, nothing.

It's LIES!!!!! Besides, Jeter would have handled this in a much savvier manner. Olney, as good as a reporter as he is, wouldn't have gotten wind of Jeter making a demand like this.

  4. I honestly think thats what the Yankees need. I don't understand how every team can sit there (and some being in the wild card hunt) and Not sign, arguably the best player, Barry Bonds. But yes I definately see the Yankees doing some damage with Bonds.

  5. Since Jeter of course he's half the face of the yankkees (the other half is A-Rod) but if Jeter doesn't want anymore spotlight he might be in trouble because the bandwagoners of the yankees will hate but the loyal fans will know when jeter (an allstar) recomends another to come play for the yanks then he knows waht he is talking about

  6. Phony stories suck. There's no report like that at all.

  7. He would be the shot in the arm so to speak that they need!

  8. No i disagree, how bout they get some pitchers to solve the bullpen problem/starting rotation.

are you sure jeter said this? well, Jeter has the right to say what he wants to say.. but it doesn't seem like him..

  9. Can NY handle Brett Favre and Barry Bonds lol

  10. i have not heard this rumor. I watch espn all the time. People read this guys profile he makes up stories like this all the time. Even i hate the yankkes i know jeter would never be asked to be traded he loves the yankees tell the truth it's good for the soul.im not happy with his dh jason doing just fine buddy why must u make up these stories man i don't get it.Also did they or did they not sighn richie sexson man u need help.

  11. Bonds would be a good pick up for the Yankees, and he said he would play for the league minimum. Jeter is a huge face for the Yanks and if I were Cashman I would've done it at the beginning of the season.

  12. This is decidedly unJeterish.

    Source, please?

  13. i think it works, i mean ppl hate the yankees. ppl hate bonds. its perfect.

  14. I thought Jeter was smarter then that

    Barry has lost his pop

    Dont Sign him

  15. Bonds would be at least a serviceable asset to any AL team.

  16. wow big deal Barry is an old f**t and a disgrace to the game. He wont do anything to help him but will help other teams by striking out.

  17. i dont think they should specifically sign bonds(although he could handle the spotlight). I definately do think that derek jeter has the right to be heard and have a voice in what goes on with HIS team. He's been the leader of that team for the better part of a decade, being a player he would know better than steinbrenner, cashman, and even girardi.
