What do you think about...? Help!?

Question

OK-i just joined these 2 groups on Yahoo! Groups.com Is anybody else in a group? Is it fun? Is it safe? I joined an Avril group and a Rihanna group. What is your opinion on this. I need help!

They are loads of fun. I belong to several and have for years. I love talking to other members about things and sharing pictures and stuff. In some groups we keep each other updated on subjects and other groups we just talk about subjects. They are really kewl!

They are safe, just don't give out personal information like your full birthdate, address, phone number and stuff like that. Oh, and use a disposable address like make a new one with Yahoo and use it in case you need to dump it because others are bugging you with it.

So, jump in it and have fun.

Besides being an enjoyable passtime, groups can serve a civic purpose.  There are FreeCycle(TM) groups nationwide (I moderate one) that allow folks to exchange unwanted stuff rather than tossing it into the landfill.  And I own a neighborhood communication group that we use for social events, notification of criminal activity (sort of a cyber-neighborhood-watch) and the like.  I've used groups for years with no ill effects, but as the other responder said, be a little circumspect about what you post:  avoid personal info and the like which could be used for identity theft, spam, etc.
