What do you think about Manchester City?

I'm sick of having to hear about them and these impossoble bids they're attempting. Who exactly do they think they are? It doesn't matter who much they've acquired and they can get all the big names they want they're still not a good club. Robinho will see that he made a mistake going to Manchester City. I mean I'm all for him being in the EPL (as I detest Real Madrid), just not for Manchester City.

  1. yea city has new owners but the only way they will get players  is if they go to City only for the money.players like Berbatov could have went to City or Madrid but he didnt because he wanted to follow his dream.but Robinho is doin it for the money. He used to be a hero and kids used to look up to him but now i think hes trash

  2. I think Manchester City, until this week, were a good mid-table club that spent considerable energy developing it's youth and was in a position to build on a solid foundation to make a genuine challenge for a top 6 finish this year, and challenge for top 4 finish in the next year or two.

Now they seem to be owned by some chap who thinks that the way to "build" a club is to simply chuck stacks of money at every player anyone is talking about as being any good and see what happens. Hopefully Mark Hughes can calm them down a bit and concentrate on building a good team, rather than buying some great players.

As for "who do they think they are", they think they're a team in the what is frequently mentioned as the top football league in Europe, if not the world, who has a fair bit of money to splash around bringing talent in to the club in order to achieve success - in other words, they think (and how dare they, hey?) they're just like Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and your beloved Man U.

  3. The new Chelsea

Roman has an estimated £11 billion, while this ABU Dhabi group has(someone told me this) £550 billion. Thats what this is all about, don't be shocked if Ronaldo announced a move to City. or Fabregas(Hope he stays) goes there for £60 million. There are more world class players in the La Liga, Serie A, etc etc

This is what they will look like in a few years

They have absolutely no problem spending money. City fans are over-joyed with this, top 4 might not be possible this season, they only got Robinho(this was less than 24 hours after the takeover).

As for me I know they will break the british records again in January, they will spend the most.

  4. They are trying to become the new Chelsea, and while I support the same team you do I disagree. It's not even been a week and yes they're throwing out names but even Mark Hughes has admitted it would be a struggle to acquire one of the players listed by the ownership as a target. I don't mind them challenging for a title, it gives the Manchester derby an even more important edge(plus I don't see Hughes out coaching Fergie). They aren't going to get any of those players, maybe Fabregas at the end of the year (if Arsenal don't get any silverware). It's going to be hard for them to sign people now as they have put themselves in an awkward situation, with stating their targets without being able to do anything about it. It could cause unrest in the squad, management, and their relationship with the owners. Overall they might become another Chelsea within a couple years but it'll definitely not happen in the next year.

  5. ADUG's antics in the transfer windows will hurt everyone in the long run. It's like when oil was selling for about $90+,and some smart-*** wanted to be the first one to buy oil at $100,the price has never gone down since. When they start bidding for players at 60 million each,if one of them makes the mistake of moving there, the 32.5 million City paid for Robinho would be chicken feed. All of a sudden teams would value their players at around 40 million each, and in turn the teams will have to find ways to make money, which means bad news for the fans.

Football players are human, they think and have feelings, unlike oil which City's sugar daddy is so used to buying.I think he'll get very pissed when he makes audacious bids for the top players and none of them wants to join City. The first example would be Berbatov. He rejected a higher bid by City to join United, and pursue his dream. My feeling is that many other players will reject Manchester City and join other more prestigeous, historic teams.Manchester City would be nothing but a team with a blank cheque that nobody wants to sign. Then Sulaiman Al-Fahim would get bored of his new toy,and will be looking to get them off his hands.

  6. I think initially they'll still struggle to attract players to play at their club for the first few years, but give them 5 or so years i guess they would be considered a top 4 team. It was a bit different with Chelsea because we were already playing Champions League football and still consitantly played for Champions League spots, so attracting players wasn't really as much of a problem for us as it is for City who...Villa, RvN and a host of other names have already rejected bids to play there.

  7. In my very very honest and personal opinion, they are a very very lucky club.....c'mmon...they use to play in Maine Road....they shifted to a new stadium coz it is no longer occupied...they build it for the Commonwealth Games and the government wanted them to play there after the game in fact, it wasn't used at all for the CG....then came in Thaksin..who can be considered one of the rich dudes in South East Asia....he brought Sven in who's indeed a good manager....they finish in the top half of the table and play in the UEFA cup this season(which they rarely do)....then Sven got sacked and they replace him with an equal quality manager....Sparky....he bought Jo and Shawn Wright-BigLips....then thaksin sold his shares to those Arabs and only after hours of owing City, they got Robinho...they manage to lure him to City coz of their money not coz of their CLUB....to ponder, if Stuart Pearce is still in charge of City right now, do you think they will be in a position they are right now????.....City manage to climb up the ladder because someone was there to push them from below...if clubs like Pompey, Villa and Everton finish in the top 4, they will have my outmost respesct coz teams like these dont have strong financial foundation....if City did, all I can say is SHEER LUCK.....if there's a club that I admire in the top 4, it would be Man Utd(and probably Arsenal), they play brilliant football as well as defining "The Beautiful Game" perfectly.....

  8. Wow, you totally sound like a totally bitter Man Utd fan. Finally some attention away from Man Utd. Money doesn't guarantee you any success. Nor does being successful make you liked. At least this creates a bit more a stir this year. It does get a bit boring when it was pretty clear it would be the same top four all over. At least there is someone capable of getting in their and breaking it up. As a Villa fan I know we're not strong enough, nor are Everton, Spurs or Pompey. City have a chance and good look to them. I bet if someone came into your club and put hundreds of millions on the table for transfers (without being in debt, like Utd and Liverpool are) you'd jump at it.

  9. Yeah I too am sick of the endless questions here about them, I really hope they don't continue right through until January! Otherwise I might need a timeout from this place for a few months.

However I totally disagree about them not being able to succeed. Money can transform any club, and obviously ther arabs will spend more than any club has ever done before. I think most players could be lured to Man City, after all it doesn't take long to change peoples perception of a club, with Chelsea being the prime example. A few years from now Man City will be held in the same regard as the top four.

And what for you makes a "good club?" If not success then what?? History doesn't seem to matter anymore cos people here love to rubbish Liverpool despite their history.

Personally I think you're just having a rant cos you're scared your rivals will overtake your team.

Btw Everton have no chance, especially if Moyes leaves which it sounds like he might. They seldom make transfers and have very little depth. If anyone (barring City) can break into the top four it's Portsmouth.

  10. Just a club playing 4-5-1.

  11. Portsmouth are way better than City.

MAN CITY IS THE NEW CHELSEA.

No matter how hard they try... THEY CAN NEVER GET CLOSE TO MAN UTD.

  12. even if they do manage to get all these players they are talking about(which is a very ambitious target) its still  not enough

the team as a whole needs a large improvement.a few world class players arent capable of winning the premiership title if the manager is not knowledgeable enough and if he doesnt know how to train his squad and be using the right tactics

its not only up to the players, the responsibility also lies upon the manager who has to have experience too not just the players( like wenger and SAF) who both know how to run the team and utilize their players

furthermore, there is the issue of consistency and cooperation among the players.if the players arent getting along with each other then how are they going to assist in goals?instead of passing to another player who could clearly score, that player decided to attempt it himself and because of his selfishness they lost a goal.so it also comes down to the attitude of the players

even if man.city has all of the above,it will take them a couple of seasons before they start mixing with the top 4

at the present time, they are lacking several  of the assets that will help them challenge the top 4.they do have the money yet their squad is still weak and will continue to  be unless they get a brilliant manager and do all of the above things mentioned.plus they musnt be too ambitious cause that will potentially turn against them

  13. Well, these big clubs doesn't just make it big just by a finger snap. It takes good players who are willing to play for small clubs, so that these small clubs will become big clubs. Robinho may have his reasons. As Robinho goes to Manchester City, it may mark a starting point for them to make it big. Just look at Manchester United. 30 years ago, they are not as strong as they are now. But look at them now. Though I'm not much of a Manchester City Fan, but to those Manchester City fans, it may be a good start for them.
