  1. For Many Years I owned Marantz equipment.  Back in the 70's and 80's they were excellent.  I would think from the history that they are still pretty good.

Harmon Kardon,  and   some ot the more expensive equipment gives you a little more definition.  However it depends on what you are looking for.

  2. Marantz should be a good choice now.

Marantz is currently a division of D&M Holdings Incorporated, which is also currently responsible for other premium brands of audio equipment including Denon, Boston Acoustics, and McIntosh.

I would recommend shopping around, but Marantz will be a good choice.

  3. I listened to a couple of them while shopping for my receiver. They sound good but seemed more expensive than some others for the same features.  They are high quality stuff though you won't need to worry about it breaking down on you from what I've heard. This is true of a few of the major receiver makers.  So make sure what you get is as future proof as possible as it will probably last 15 years if you want it to.

  4. Overall, i think the Marantz amplifiers are awesome, they have a really nice "sheen" that they put on music. They are inherently very warm sounding and i've never heard one i disliked. I used to install all kinds of things for a high-end audio company in the area, and got to listen to all kinds of nice things, but i always envied those who had the money to purchase a Marantz amp. Again, never had experience with their home theater products, if they even make them, but their amps are outstanding. only other way i would go would be an Outlaw. Don't even look at Krell, they aren't the best for what you'll end up paying.

  5. run of the mill untill you get into their (high end items)
