  1. i find it offensive too s***w the new yorker!

  2. Sure it's offensive, but that's politics.  You don't see Bush, Cheney, or Rice whining every time something offensive is printed about them.

If Obama should be offended by anything, it is the "don't pick on the little black boy" attitude that most of the media have towards him.  The uproar over this issue is a perfect example.

  3. PERFECT DESCRIPTION !!! For once they described it perfectly...

  4. i don't know who i am voting for yet...

but i found it veryyyy offensive.

    i am boycotting the magazine.

  5. I thought it was funny

  6. It was silly. I saw it.

Obama was dressed as some kind of Arab soldier (prolly a shot at his middle name "Hussein") and Michelle-she looked like she was some kinda soldier.

    Silly drawing. Not funny, no.

  7. It feeds right into the right wing fear mongers who want to scare people inton thinking Obama is a muslim.

  8. I understand where people find it offensive but they are making fun of the rumors and the stereotypes already given.  That's what makes it entertaining...  If it's not already out there... just be patient, I'm sure there will be plenty of mccain cartoons to come!  I don't think I have ever seen a nice political cartoon!

  9. I'm white myself and I too, find the cover offensive. It is racially inflamatory and derogatory...they went waaaay too far with the Michelle Obama part! Yes, there are weird rumors going around, but there is no need to depict them so, well, extremely. It only makes some other whites more scared of him when they have no reason to fear a black Christian presidential candidate! *rolls eyes* I am in the McCain camp but the world wouldn't end if Barack was elected. They're both adept people, ya know. :^) Hope that answers your question.

  10. Honestly its distasteful not offensive, the substance behind the cover seems to be not as important as the cover but it really is. There is far too much political correctness in the world, and honestly if people use a cartoon cover to make a decision about a person and their character they should be examined.

Race is not the issue, they are simply brining forth all the worries people whisper in hushed tones to the fore front. Everyone knows there are some people who feel that way but this brings it to the masses. And what does everyone do, jump about how awful it is the New Yorker was simply trying to bring these silly ideas to light, if one had read the article you could see obama is praised but then again people refuse to look at the whole story just take it for face value and make judgments. I am not offended and I am black, yes I thought a little distasteful but once you actual read the article you can understand much better. Then again the New Yorker humor is not for everyone.

  11. the right wing has never tried to scare people into thinking obama is a muslim--the left wing is who you need to be concerned about---they will say anything to get votes and know its just talk

  12. Its actually intended to make fun of the people who demonize Obama and his wife. In that context, I find it acceptable.

  13. Some people have no sense of humor. This is no "Right Wing Conspiracy" or "White Wing Conspiracy" either. The New Yorker is a liberal leaning satirical magazine. Check the cover of back issues and I'm sure you will find it an equal opportunity offender. I thought it was funny in the same way that Michael Scott of The Office gets away with stereotyping everyone for the sake of humor.

  14. I think they crossed a line. It's in very bad taste and I would be pissed about it if I were them. I'm not voting Obama, and I find it offensive.

  15. I think its funny,  and not offensive at all.  If you read the story that goes with it that is.  I don't really care for him and his wife.  I think the girls are precious, so cute.  But his political agenda reminds me of communism,  so I don't support him.
