What do you think about Shawn Merriman?

what do you guys think of him playing i personally hate him because he has been caught with steroids 2-3 times i think he is dumb i hope he ruins his knee and can never play again that would teach that stupid steroid f***

I like him under two conditions:

1) He is clean

2) He is not playing my team lol

I think under the league's old rules he probably got away with using drugs for a while because of the four week penalty.  Personally, I think the NFL only wanted to make sure the players were clean when they were playing because in four weeks most drugs will leave your system.  

Now the comissioner will throw you out of the league if you even know someone who does drugs.  He won't be a problem again.

I agree. I don't like him alot (Steroid abuse) but hopefully he snapped out of it but seruisly I doubt he will have a good career because like you've heard, steroids, REALLY mess you up.

I Totally disagree with his decision because I am a Charger Fan. I hope he does not injure his knee more. He is strong and tough. I don't care if he used steroids before, he is the best L.B in the League. GO CHARGERS, GO SHAWN A.K.A "LIGHTS OUT" MERRIMAN

The damage to his knee could possibly be the result of steroid use.  Steroids weaken the connective cartilage in joints increasing the chance of cartilage and ligament damage.

Personally, I think he is an idiot.  Go have the surgery, take a year off and recover, and come back next year with a stronger knee.  He will not make it to the end of the season.

the steroids ruin his reputation, but he is an amazing players on them.  if he wasn't on it last year after the suspension, he's solid yet.  Go Pack Go!

Honestly, I think Merriman is also overrated. People need to realize that Merriman has taken steroids throughout his career and that is probably why he has been so successfull.

Anyway, I suggest Merriman doesn't play because if he does, he could get that knee hurt again and could possibly end his career. Like some others said, have the surgery, sit out a year and recover and come back with a healthy knee.

I think Shawn is sticking it out this year because 1) he played hurt on it last year and 2) he doesn't want to end up like that punk b!@#$$ Jeremy Shockey in a luxury box as the Chargers are celebrating a Super Bowl win in '09!
