  1. Personally the stuff scares me to death! I found a recipe for sweet tea (hungry-girl.com) that called for Splenda. Following the instructions I added the Splenda to the water so it could heat just to a boil before adding tea bags.

Let me tell you - the very last thing I expected to happen when I added the Splenda was for it to fizz before dissolving in water that wasn't even hot at the time! Since that day I refuse to use it. Threw that stuff away - if it's fizzing up in room temp water, what's it going to do to my stomach and digestive system? I didn't care to try it and find out! At the very least it was an eye opening experience!

  2. I'm not sure what it's made of, but it makes me sick.

  3. i love it, i dont care what its made out of and i dont believe any of that cancer c**p

  4. it's made of fake sugars. It's not as good for you either and tastes very different.

    =]

  5. I have heard that it is made from sugar, but with the taste, its a bit far off... I've also read a news article recently that talks about how there were a lot of claims that it was unsafe, which the makers denied. However, there have been very few tests on whether or not it actually is harmful to consume... they forgot to mention that in their claims of its safety.

  6. it is bad for you it tastes nasty i would rather have brown sugar or honey than that gross splenda

  7. it make me sick:(

    and it tastes flippin wierd

  8. Tastes funny and really is made from sugar, but is made so as not to be absorbed by the body. If you mix it 50/50 with real sugar you can cut calories in half without the funny after taste.

  9. It's a sugar derivative.  It's processed a few extra steps beyond sugar. Some people have a bad digestive reaction to it, particularly diabetics (irony?)  the jury's still out on any long term affects.

IMO - It is better than an all-chemical food like aspartame, but not as good as a closer to natural food like sugar.

A much better choice is dehydrated cane syrup which has less sugar & calories than sugar by weight and is 1 or 2 steps closer to natural without being lumpy like raw sugar and doesn't require any recipe adjustments like Splenda.

  10. This girl in one of my classes is taking a medical class and she said it is worse for you than plain sugar. I cant remember exactly what she said was in it, but it was along the lines of some heavy metals, and some other things that are not good for you at all.

  11. I won't touch it.
