I'm really excited good and bad ways. We havent had rain here in south Texas. I'm from Brownsville and the National Weather Channel says that Dolly is going to become stronger once it hits the Gulf of Mexico waters and turn into a Hurricane. We are right in the middle of the pathway..Do you know if its really gonna hit or can it make a sudden turn?? What important things should I go buy right now or should I even worry?? Help me out please!!!

  1. Well If I were you prepare for the storm anyway. Its better to be safe than sorry.

What you should have in case it does strike is:

    1. Bottled Water - 1 gallon per person per day

    2. Battery Powered Radio

    3. Flashlights.

    4. Canned/non perishable food

    5. Cash

    6. If you use medication put it in  a safe place

    7. Make sure your documents are in a safe place

    8. And pay attention to see if watches and warnings are issued.

    9. If you board up your windows, 5/8 inch thick marine plywood is the best for that.

I have the feeling it will hit your area of Brownsville, but best of luck dealing with the storm.

  2. they say its either brownsville or corpus

    and i live in corpus

rite on the beach that the hurrican goes in

    which is north beach

    so im screwed either way

  3. First I would live in a house boat.  If I lived in Brownsville.

Make sure it is tied to a tree and maybe wedged between a couple of trees.  Make sure it is stocked up with enough food to last a week.  Then sit back and enjoy the rain.

If you in a house, move.

  4. Sadly it will most likely be a hurricane by the time it hits land.  You should buy batteries for radio and flashlights.  Get bottled water and canned foods in case you lose power for an extended amount of time.

  5. I live in Edinburg and everone is in panic mode. I did get the canned food, water, flashlights, candles, etc but we havent boarded up our windows. If I am not mistakened, hurricane Emily shouldve hit us a few yrs ago and still missed us at the last minute. There is always that chance of us just getting rain but its best to be prepared for the worst.

  6. This hurricane shouldn't be anything to really worry about as long as you are in a safe home. If you aren't, you should stay somewhere that doesn't flood or in a sturdy strong house. You can't say for sure where they are going to hit or how strong they will be. You need to get water, jugs of drinking water, fill up water bottles, buy flashlights and lots of batteries or candles, and that's the most important stuff. Also buy non-perishable food items like canned food. I'm from the valley too, so I'm preparing with these things. Don't worry too much but be prepared, it's better to be safe than sorry so do get ready.
