I can't watch the video they have on cnn.com. She's an A student. Shouldn't this be the time when girls and boys can experiment and have fun with their appearance?

  1. Don't think much of her parents for letting her grow up before her time.

Your childhood is the most wonderful time and it or not be rushed through, you will never get it back.

    Stupid parents!!

  2. yes its a self of expression it shows idivuality and its not killing anyone

  3. Well the school has rules, much like workplaces.  I don't think its a bad idea at all for schools to enforce rules, and if they choose to have a rule banning pink hair then its the rule.  Same as workplaces.  You are expected to follow the rules. A no tattoo policy means you make sure they are covered, a no facial piercings policy means you take them out.  What happened to people having fun with their appearance when the got to college, that used to be the "experimentation" years.  I think a school should enforce the rules they set as long as they are not harmful to the environment of learning.  Hum...learning that is what we all go to school for right? Not to have a who can wear the shortest skirt, have the strangest colored hair or wear the most eyeliner contest.  Just my opinion.

  4. The school doesn't want her to have it in case it gets stolen.

  5. Personally I could care less what color hair someone has.  Kind of odd though that she wants pink hair.  Oh well, some kind of statement I guess or an attention seeking tactic.  However, if she's in school and they have dress codes, etc. pink hair is not going to cut it.  If she wants pink hair, do it in the summer when she's out of school.  If she wants people to respect her for her hair color choices she should respect the rules and regulations of the school and other places.

These kids should have the rules we went by in high school (not all that long ago either).   When pant suits were first allowed, they meant pant suits only.  Not slacks and jackets as one rich kid found out. She had on an outfit that could have paid our mortgage.  Slacks, creased to the tee, a silk blouse and stylish jacket. They sent her home because it was not a pant suit.  Her mother had a cow & came charging in there all high and mighty.  Kid had to go home and change. They did not cow tow to the parent.

  6. School rules exist for a reason. Yes, girls and boys can experiment and have fun with their appearance, but they need to learn that there are limits and that there is a time and a place for this. You can't have kids going to school dressed like Marilyn Manson, or a Las Vegas hooker.

Does she expect to be able to turn up to her first job interview with bright pink hair?

If her parents had an ounce of sense, they would get her to use some non permanent dye that could be washed out before school.

Some parents seem to have very bizarre ideas about what is appropriate for their children to wear:
