What do you think about a guy in his mid 20's changing his last name because he doesn't like it?

I wouldn't do it. You should be proud of who you are! Just out of curiosity, whats your last name :)

No problem if it's really something that you don't like.   But if your father is still alive and if you are on good terms with him, you might want to consider that such a move would be insulting and hurtful.  

I know a guy who took his wife's last name after several years of marriage.   In his case his father had been very abusive towards him and his wife, and it was possibly coupled with some events in this guy's childhood, so he basically dis-owned his father and discarded the last name.
