  1. Russell Baze is an experienced horse racing jockey that I believe would never intentionally hurt a horse.

    According to the DRF reports he is taking responsibility for his mistake and was quoted "I think it's a fair decision," said Baze, 49,

    I trust that the owners and trainers of Imperial Eyes know he did not cause intentional damage.

    It seems to me to  be an unfortunate event.


  2. If he drew blood , then it was a needed suspension.  If not, then I don't see any need for it.  Trust me, if a rider whips a horse & it really hurts, that horse will do everything in it's power to punish that rider.  Horses are funny about things like that!

  3. I think that if the horse bled in result to the whipping, yes he should be suspended. The horse broke down and died later. He might not have known that the horse broke down just that the horse took a bad step and got back up. It depends. Here's the article:
