  1. He has lost faith in some people but we have got his back

  2. Besides the drugs I still think he is a magnificent player.

He has hung around a bad crowd and must have felt vulnerable.

He obviously suffers from depression and uses drugs to numb the pain he has.Even worse now with the death of Mainwaring.

I believe he should leave AFL and sort himself out, which wont be easy.

I really really wish he gets better. Not only him but all people that take drugs.

I don't think differently of him.He is just a lost soul at the moment.

  3. My opinion hasnt changed - I didnt think much of him the FIRST time he was outted as a druggie and I still dont think much of him now.

I do respect the fact he is a great player, but you have to wonder if it was all drug assisted...*sigh*

  4. I don't think any differently of Ben Cousins than I did before.

We all knew that he had a substance abuse problem.

A couple of months in re hab may have done ok, but the writing was on the wall when he went back to W.A.

He should have, or his family should have moved him away from that place.

    I wish him well.

  5. What has been going on in his private life, has nothing to do with his footy. Accept that drugs and sport don't mix and Ben got caught out. I am disappointed that Ben has got to the stage where he has taken drugs to be his answer to life's misery. I still rate Ben as an extremely good player and is one of my favourite players today.

  6. I dont 'think' about, or much of Ben Cousins at all.     He has had MORE chances and help than the normal 'Joe Public' .    He is now a far as I'm concerned a.. DODO!.....(pronounced dough..an extinct bird) and considering he plays, or hopefully its now ,PLAYED for the Eagles, it fits him nicely .    I am more concerned about the THOUGHT processes of those in 'charge'        at the AFL.    They have messed with the rules of the game, sanitizing its  physicality to appease Mothers, worried their little 'Ben's' physical welfare .   Now they have an even bigger problem the DRAFT!     What Mother or even parent would want their 18 yo drafted to the Eagles next month.

  7. Well said Big Kev

It is unfortunate and dissapointing that he has been caught up or mixed up in that sort of thing. As a player he had accomplshed so much, but now after all that has happened it looks like a great playing career will end prematurely.

  8. I will go there in place of the draftees. Although I am 90 years old and 30 kgs I think I will hold up.

  9. Saddened actually,

It would be interesting to know how Ben was as a child. whether he was a high achiever or a quiet lad fitting in to society.

Ben would not be the only high achiever who has fallen from grace.

Possibly he was lured into the substance taking when it was off season, and he needed something to break the boredom of not competing.

Some people need the Adrenalin rush 24/7, and this is where the clubs have a duty-of-care to their employees to see that the player is able to access mental health programs within the specific clubs that they are contracted to.

It's not much good only having one club  sports psychologist, and expecting him/her to know what is going on in a players head.

Players are continually psyched up as if going into battle, this is the nature of competition, and whats more who picks up the pieces when the game is over.

This is why the players resort to alcohol and drugs to maintain the high after the siren has sounded.

The onus is on each individual club to ensure that their players are educated in self care by professional staff, and not just old footy jocks that hang around the clubs looking for their own Adrenalin rush.

  10. I think the same about him as I did last time he got caught out.

He is a loser drug addict.
