What do you think about fastrack yachtmaster courses, are they good or are they a bad idea?

My mate Steve did a 3-month intensive Yachtmaster, and it did him a lot of good. Filled in the gaps in his knowledge and stopped him being careless (unaware of dangers).

Well for people like me who come from a country where said courses are not required to "skipper" a boat and have completed 27 crossings of one of the most violent pieces of water in the world then move to a country where they are required so I can go out on my "ship"then yes they are great. But for all of the other numb nutted idiots they  are most likely a bad idea. I mean will the course teach them what to do when they get 360ed?
