  1. i went to paris last summer to visit my grandparents, and my feeling of the french was that they didn't like americans. i remember when i was on the metro going to trocadero, i was speaking english to my sister, and the man sitting in front of us said to his wife.."Ugh, Americains!" that hurt my feelings but he was the only one i've seen to be rude. i have a great perception of the french culture and lifestyle, and i think that most are very friendly. i like how they try very hard to understand to what we are saying when we try so hard to speak french! lol..i like the french, and i hope that the french like americans. yes, we are sometimes stubborn and want things to be done our way and at the spot, but we are fun, caring, and most of us are not rude as we are stereotyped to be. i had a cutlural shock when i was in paris, and that has influenced me to take up more french classes to master the beautiful language! i even wish to move there one day! J'aime la France!!! ( i hope that is right..lol) by the way, your english is understandable!

  2. i love france...i love the language..not too happy with the french...they were mean..they were impatient..and they grunt alot...i love their language..but come on now..i have a grandmother..not a grandmuzzer

  3. The French Father Christmas rides through the sky in a Citroen pulled by six striking transit workers.

  4. If it were not for France, we Americans would be speaking English!!!!!!!!!

  5. The stereotype where I'm from is that you all are stuck-up, boring, pretty intelligent, marginally attractive, naturally "hairy" individuals. Some good, some bad, and I'm not saying I necessarily believe all that...that's just what people around here joke about...

  6. Bonjour, I have different opinions from lots of people. I have been communicating with  Toursime group, they are helpful but not very patience. I am learning French and I believe many French are learning English. They communicated to me in English and I communicated with them in French! We both want a chance to use the language. Here's come the conflict -- I am communicating with you in English why you would use French ??? Vice Versa. It all depend on your fate of life -- who you would meet this life. Some are nice and Some are naughty

  7. The general depiction that most Americans have of French people is (a) they're anti-war, and (b) they hate Americans but love our money.  But hey, France and its people can't be all bad -- my wife's best friend works for INTERPOL in Lyon and LOVES France.  She has lived there for over 15 years and doesn't intend to return to the U.S.  Apparently, it makes a big difference in an American's opinion of France if they live in France or visit there.

  8. French people in France

Women:  Mysterious, well groomed, political, traditional, smokers

    Men:  lazy, rude, smokers, unfaithful

French people in Quebec, Canada = rude

I was away at a club med and all of the french people from France were extremely nice and those from Quebec very very rude and obnoxious.  It was the opposite of what I always had a stereotype of.

  9. Self-confident, not very well- behaved,easy-going and having politicians you have deserved

  10. I understand there is "the frenchmen" and then "the parisian".

However, i have found french people to be full of love for life, and the good things in it.

The saying "living like God in France" must come from somewhere.

In my work, i work with french people as well, and they are proud when i try to converse in french (which is NOT easy).

I have come to know them as generous, friendly and somewhat proud of their country and language. However, there are, as there are everywhere, certain "elements" that cause issues and bad publicity. The recent unrest in the Parisian suburbs is a prime example of this.

Whether or not that is 'due to the french' - is yet another discussion.

All in all i prefer the french people over certain other groups of people, at least i know their cooking is good :)

  11. I think that they are nice.  I was in Paris for a trip and I was carrying a really heavy suitcase.  I had just got off the subway and was walking up the stairs and dragging my suitcase up the stairs and I was really struggling.  All of a sudden I feel my suitcase lift up and there were two French woman  helping me carry it up the stairs.  They said "See not all French are rude!"  That made me laugh. Of course I thanked them. Ever since then, I always think of that day when people talk mean about French people.  Later on during my trip I obviously looked lost staring at a map because a very nice French couple stopped and helped me fin my way.  In conclusion, I believe the majority of French people are very nice, friendly and helpful.  I did run into a couple of cranky people (lady working behind the ticket counter at Notre Dame for example) during that time, but that did not bother me, because you will will find mean people in every city all over the world!  You will also find nice people in every country all over the world.

  12. Your English is better than some people who are born here.  I have nothing against the French.  I hope to visit France one day.  I don't understand what the fuss is about.

  13. I think Americans' opinions regarding French people are based not on personal experience but on stereotypes. I think French people stereotype Americans in the same exact way.  Americans who haven't traveled to France or met french people believe that you are rude, s****. and judgmental. Likewise, French people think Americans are greedy, rude and war loving.  Personally, I went to France for the first time when I was 16 years old. I was able to live with a French family in a small town named La Gaude for several weeks. They were a wonderful and generous family, full of love and life. I also had a wonderful French teacher who grew up in Paris and moved to the States. She taught me so much about France and shared with me her wonderful zest for life and her view of the world. My experiences with French people have been great.  France is my favorite country outside of the United States.

  14. I have been to France three times and speak a little French.

I found that people in France are very friendly for the most part and most try to be helpful.

    I love it there.

  15. I like the French! I love the accents, the food, and the country doesn't seem to bad either. France is a place I hope I get a chance to visit before I die. I always think of the French as sophisticated people who love beauty and class. I mean, I know that just because you come from France you're not the same as every other French person, but that's the picture I have.

    :0)

  16. I was last in France 2 yrs. ago. I went expecting a strong anti-American attitude. I found the opposite to be true. Everyone, except one cranky bus driver, was very polite, courteous and very helpful.

Of all the European people, the French people had the friendliest attitude towards Amercians.

  17. I figure that the French are like any other group of people.  Most of them are pretty decent people for the most part, but you've got a few a**holes out there too.  The same could be said about any group.  Unfortunatly, it's the a**holes who people remember, and it gives the good ones a bad name.

  18. I think the french people are amazing.

I see nothing wrong with France or it's people...

However, I can understand perfectly well why the French see us the way we are... A lot has changed over the years, especially now that we have Bush in office.

I'm trying to get fluent in French so I can move over there... haha.
