I'm talking about the french people from France. I'm french, and actually, i have a lot of questions ... Soon, I will leave in Ottawa, Canada, because of my parent's job and I don't know how i can live there. First, I don't speak english very well (sorry for the grammar vocabulary/etc mistakes =s). second thing i want to know, do you like french people ? =D

  1. ok (no hard feelings plz) i studied french language all my life (i even had the DELF)and it was hard but it's not the language it's the people (not all of them) who wants to let the french language the 1st one in the world and they kinda failed and yet they still think that they could do that with all the exams and the educational exchanges around the world  and they refuse to speak english (am not  telling that i hate u or something like that so plz don't misunderstand) or maybe because my parents made me learn the french language without considering what i really want and even they and my teachers made me do the delf (and we had to take 2 extra hrs of french classes o prepare for the delf and with all that i still suck in it

  2. this isnt what i personally believe as i dont think people should generalize a whole nation as no matter where you go in the world you will find all kinds of different people in every race. people stereotype the french as arrogant and rude and smelly. but i went there on holiday last week and i met loads of really nice french people although there were a few arrogant people but there are arrogant people wherever you go in the world. just try not to act arrogant because people will expect it from you and will be looking out for it so prove them wrong! x x

  3. i am part french... found out a few years ago...

but i always loved french peoples... i want to move there

  4. Ignore Ashley, who is probably from the USA. Of course we like French people. While you are learning more English (and you clearly have a good start already), you will find that most Canadians also speak some French. Do not worry, you will do just fine. Ottawa is beautiful, by the way.

  5. I think French people are great - I'm not French, so I'm not being biased - and they have a very interesting culture. I think the way they talk is great, too, and I definitely don't see them as being rude people.

I'd say that the French are very hospitable, and that they're a group of people who are pretty amazing. I've been learning French for a while now, and the language is just very fun to use.

By the way, you were pretty good with the vocabulary. The grammar was a little iffy, but most people type like that online, so that's nothing new. :D

  6. You will probably do okay in Ottawa, but don't go out west as there is a strong anti-French sentiment out there. In Ottawa you are only a hop, skip and a jump away from Quebec and they will love you there.

  7. i think french ppl have really annoying accents but the fries are good and the toast

  8. French people are cool. Why wouldn't I like French people? They have great food and they know how to dress (Ok, so that's more of a Parisian thing, but I think it works). Anyways, I'm sure you'll be fine in Ottawa, especially since you'll be so close to Montreal (and therefore Quebec in general. In Quebec they are all about speaking French (and quite frankly, I find THEM more arrogant than actual French people (if we must stereotype here). You'll be fine. Your English will improve by leaps and bounds (it always does when you find yourself in a foreign environment) and you'll have lots of fun.

    Bonne chance!

  9. My wife took my daughter there and at first they were getting v. down partly due to the French disdain for foreigners.  On the second day there my daughter was crying wanting to go home when an old man took them under his wing, showed them Paris, paid for a fine meal in a cafe wanting nothing in return.  From then everything changed and they had a great holiday.  Everyone doesn't have to be all false smiles and 'have a nice day' it only takes a few genuinely nice people wherever you go.

  10. I love the French as of now. but that one guy who told the interviewer that the swimming team from France are only there to crush the Americans. well, their *** holes.

  11. the sterio type is that french people are rude but not many people believe that, personally i think itd be cool to be french , im sure youll be like by many ppl, another thing people always think french girls are one of the most beautiful which is sometimes true i think

  12. well i lived in san diego with a hostfamily last year, and in my house there was a french guy.. he was a little bit shy,but he wasnt rude! he was actually very nice and clean! haha and ull be fine in canada, about ur english im sure it will improve.

    good luck!

    :)

  13. I think they're okay, in general; it's hard to sum up a whole country's population in an idea but a lot of people generalize you as arrogant so I think it'd be best to be careful not to give that impression when you move.

  14. Rude, unattractive, and unclean.  I wish they'd do a mass handout of soap over there.  Yuck.
