Hi, I'm from Guatemala and I play in Y!A in spanish, but it turned kinda boring, so I decided to play here in Y!A in english and I want to know your opinion of my beautyful country. Have anyone of you visited Guatemala? How was your experience? What did you like the most? What did you NOT like?

Sorry for my bad english, I hope you understand.

  1. Guatemala is a beautiful country. over 3 visits in 2 years and I have only visited areas within an hour or two of Guatemala City. I am hoping to get to Livingston, and Monterrico not to mention Tikal some day!!

Guatemala, in my experience, has lovely weather. Is very accomodating to visitors. We were treated wonderfully wherever we went. No one balked at our poor spanish skills! The people of Guatemala are warm and welcoming. Many of the Mayan people seemed to be more curious of us... not mistrustful or anything.

Guatemalan Men are not at all what I expected! I had this idea from the travel advisorys of men being overly flirtatious. I found Guatemalan men to be considerably more Chivalrous than American Men. I found them to be kind and respectful to me.

I can't tell you how beautiful I find Guatemala to be! I could cry thinking of the hilly views and volcanos. The beauty of the architecture of the churches in Antigua. The casual elegance of many of the patio restaurants and grand hotels.

I flash through my mind images of houses painted every color. People decked out in colorful dress. The beautiful Afrombas lining the streets of Antigua. The deeply moving feeling of watching people praying. The laughter in the air of children kicking Soccer Balls. The smell of fresh coffee mixed with the smoky smell of a fire for grilling. The taste of Tortilla's made fresh, of black bean soup, and of cilantro on everything.

Spanish running through my head "Como se dice en espanol?"

The lovely and lush flowering bushes, perfume the air. The breezey feeling of a nice walk!  The only thing that hurts is some of the poverty we saw, in contrast with such beautiful surroundings it hurt sometimes to see.  Oh I love Guatemala!!!! I wish I was there now!

  2. my dearest friend i the world lives in Guatemala City.  I hope and pray that I get to see her soon.  I miss her a great deal.  If you see her, say hello... and tell her that I miss her and love her.  And tell her mother that I am praying for them all the time.

I am being very serious too.  Tell her that a boy in Colorado wants to hear from her when she gets the chance.

  3. I went to Guatemala last month on a mission awareness trip. Our group of 32 went to the Highlands area near lake Attitlan. We were based in San Lucas Toliman and visited the nearby towns and villages each day. I thought the people were awesome in their hospitality and sincerity. On departing the country we stayed in Guatemala City. The hotel we stayed at that night before leaving, I cannot give it a high grade for hospitality. In fact the customer service was pitiful. But other than that, I would have to say that  outside of Guatamala City that my experince in your country was great. I plan on going back next spring to the area near Chichicastenango.

  4. I have never ever been to Guatemala. My friend went to Guatemala City for a two day visit all the way from India. He did a tour of Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico and much of Central America. So, Guatemala was in the way. He liked his stay. The people were very friendly, sociable and generous. He said that there were traffic jams, pollution and rubbish on the roads. But, he overall liked Guatemala City. I'd definitely like a visit in Guatemala. I do know that its much safer than Honduras and Nicaragua.

  5. If your country is so wonderful, please stay there.

  6. I've never been to Guatemala, but I sure would like to go!!!! I bet its really beautiful.

  7. I love Guatemala, even being away from it I still remember the good times and how many things are we taking now for granted. I been here (US) since I was 12yrs and now I'm in my 20 ish something :-).

    What I love about it?.......everything!

By the way Nummy, if I can give you more than one thumbs down....I WOULD!

  10. While I have not yet had the opportunity to visit Guatemala, I have met many of your fellow Guatemalans who are here in this country.

If their kindness and warmth are any indication of the wonderful people in the land of your nativity, I would love to visit!

Everything I have seen and read about Guatemala sounds wonderful - from culture and customs to touring the country and seeing the sights!

I hope to go visit soon.
