Starting next year, I'm going to jog/walk across the U.S. from Seattle to New York, stopping into as many small towns along the way as possible. I'm going to plan my route so that I can travel an average of 15 miles per day, stopping in small towns and giving my time to environmental community service work (planting trees, helping pick up garbage, etc.) The journey should take about 1 1/2 years. I want to be totally free from electricity, gas/oil, and live with nothing but renewable resources for my travels. I am doing it for a major cause that I believe in. I don't expect many to fully appreciate what I'm doing, but the experience will be with me forever and I hope to make a positive impact on at least 1 other person's life when it comes to helping the environment. Does this sound like a crazy idea?

  1. That sounds like a complete waste of time.

  2. Good idea but the impact will not be as great if you have a product like the car that runs on just water with you and the media behind you.  The sponsors is important in a venture of this magnitude.  Rethink the total impact it would have.  Too many ideas are lost because of non believers.

  3. also try these things

what i do is almost easy but pricy.....i buy eco friendly cleaning products (all cleaning products). buyed a t-shirt that my white t is green meaning i want green. with my rebate check i will buy more eco friendly stuff for my house.

buy nothing organic and all natural food and drinks. plan on making my garden organic also grow my own fruits and veggies.

finally when i am not home i turn off my heat and turn off lights and my radio and tv so cut down my rge bill

  4. Would'nt it be better to take the first step to help in deleting global warming? walking across land does'nt help our problem. http://www.socyberty.com/Activism/First-... IF YOU GET A SALVAGE LICENSE SO YOU CAN KEEP WHAT YOU FIND. get equiptment, safe training to extract the sands of time that man has never touched, in india they Discovered a stone temple under the sand near their beach and like you with your license you get to keep what you find and help   the rest of us to delete Global Warming, is'nt this better  than taking a walk.

  5. Absolute waste of time and earths resources being used to keep a useless git alive in terms of food water and shelter.

  6. i love it!! if you did your 'marketing' correctly, i bet people would donate needed supplies for you, if you provided a list. would you have a website pre-journey so people would be aware of your stops?  i am very interested in this and very excited for you!! to me, that takes a lot of ambition and motivation.

  7. I think it sounds great! I would join you and take pictures the whole way (I'm about 4 hours south of Seattle) to document if I didn't have a job and family to take care of.  I agree that you should look for a sponsor.

I feel like you should try local eco companies for support.

When I take walks I often find a bag or two blowing around and load them with trash until full and then turn around and go back home.  It's adventurous in a way.

I'm behind you on this and would love to hear more about your plans.

  8. We can just follow the trail of used stuff you leave behind (trash) unless you plan to save it all and bring it all back so you can recycle it.

  9. It's a huge waste of time and walking shoes, but at least you'll feel better about yourself, and this is after all what the church of modern environmentalism is all about; feeling like you have absolved yourself of sin against the environment.
