  1. Only the blind ones are wearing the sunglasses.

  2. I don't have an answer for you, It's the Olympics, not Miss America (or QVC).

  3. Sunglasses at night. Ridiculous. I guess this is "stylin". They have been bouncing up and down on the track too long. Their heads are scrambled.

  4. it's b/c of all the lights

  5. they wear the sunglasses because of all the lights in the stadium.

  6. They wear them to counteract the glare from the lights in the stadium. All of the floodlights in the stadium face inwards towards the track, field and the athletes and can impair vision. It is important for runners in particular to retain a good level of vision in order to keep their lanes and avoid disqualification, this is very easy when running flat-out. Especially around bends which is why sunglasses are very common amongst by 200, 400 meter runners etc.

  7. The wear them because of the lights in the stadium and the dust or whatever else, which I don't think there is much of on more modern tracks, that could be kicked up when running. I would think also that some are prescription and they need them for just overall better eye sight.
