Question:

What do you think about payday advances?

I work for a small company with a very caring boss. She has given me payday advances in the past and has actually loaned me a large amount of money that I already paid back.

If you were an employer would you think badly of an employee who gets advances often? Like what if it is every other pay period?

  1. Manage your finances better, and you won't need to ask for a loan, or payday advances.  Save some money for rainy days, live down a little, don't consume too much, get a honda civic instead of lexus.  Live within your means, all these are concepts that seem lost on 90% of Americans and their consumerism.

And if I was an employer, I would say the same thing to my employees who ask for loan too often.  Once twice is ok, in case of emergencies, but after that I start to think that that employee is not too bright, as they haven't learned from their experience.

  2. I am an employer, and I do this all the time. I have never found myself thinking badly about the employee.

That being said, you might assess why you keep needing these advances. It can only help you to live within your means, if at all possible. Not to judge.

    Good luck.
