I found some pretty pink swirly marble 12x12 tiles, and I don't have a lot of money, so I was thinking of using that for my kitchen countertops.

Will I have to use grout inbetween the lines, or can I just but the tiles up together with some apoxy of something?. I love white marble too, but I don't know where to find it at a discount price.

  1. I have pink (with tiny black flecks) corian counter tops.  They were there when we bought the house (and we still bought the house!  lol).  Actually they're OK - wouldn't have been my choice, I'd have gone more neutral.  But they were almost brand new, and it's Corian. . .   Actually I'd probably have it over white.  I know someone who has white Corian, and does not like it at all.

And yes, you will want to grout.  Something will go in those spaces, so you want it to be grout!

  2. You should grout between the tiles (you can use an epoxy grout) otherwise it won't be hygenic - but make them fine joints for the best appearance, and match the pink if you can. If you want white try a monumental masons they may have white statuary marble. White is considered 'cheap' in Italy, so you may get some bargains from an importer. See it before you buy it though cos it may be leftover (ie rejects) from a job.

  3. I don't think I'd put the pink marble in the kitchen. Even if it is a terrific buy, it may be hard to decorate with. It may hurt the resale value of your home if you should decide to sell. Neutrals are much better for kitchens, and there are lots of creams, beige, tans, browns, grays and greens out there. Keep looking for a bargain. You may pay a little more than the pink, but I think you'll be better satisfied in the long run.

  4. Pink tile for a kitchen counter???  You may want to rethink that idea.  When you decorate, alway look at resale value.  Is the change you are making going to bring the value up or down.  Paint is one thing...very easy to change, but tile is semi permanent.  Buyers are looking for upgrades that they don't have to change.
