  1. ...have you been watching tennis?  He is this year.  I guess he prolly shoulda got best male tennis player too... that would have made sense since he beat federer twice now.  Even at Wimbledon on grass...

  2. oh you talking about the award that was given on last year's performance

  3. The ESPY's are a waste of time dude. Don't waste your time trying to figure out how these people come up with their nominees and then the winners for the various categories.

Anyway I would say it depends on the time period in which they judge these two categories, then you can determine a fair winner. If it was strictly the entire of 2007, I would say that Roger deserves to be rewarded the "Best International Male Athlete" and the "Best Male Tennis Player" awards, for the three Grand Slams he won last year and for holding on to the number 1 ranking.

If it was judged from the last ESPY's date to this years event, then Rafael Nadal deserves both awards for his great improvement in the game over the last year, and of course for winning his 4th consecutive French Open and then Wimbledon.

  4. The award was based on last years performance and not this years

  5. Yeah he should have won both but I think they based Roger's award on 2007 mostly.  It will be Rafa's next year ;-)

  6. I know. I feel Rafa should have won both :) ! Nadal was definitely the better player of the two this year and is set to be the new world #1 ! Vamos Rafa

  7. I do think that next year it looks like, they'll have to award Nadal the best male tennis player. If he does capture the #1 ranking, even more so.

They are probably taking in multiple factors, overall wins, tournaments won, etc. and it's from the previous year anyway. Federer hasn't been doing so well, but pretty good. Nadal though is on track to start being the main star if Federer doesn't take back the spotlight.
