I think everyone should stay clear of that company. It's like they hire a special set of people with no ethics....... a total nightmare!

  1. They serve a purpose for those who need it

  2. hmmm. I think rent-a-center is in the same league as check cashing places and some others.  I understand they offer a service to people/neighborhoods that need it.

That being said, I think they are evil.

Prey on the most economically disadvantaged parts of our country.   You need a couch, a fridge... you have no money, poor credit.. so as a last resort you go to rent-a-center, pay $25 a week and end up spending $2000 for an item that should have cost $700.

Look, I have no sympathy for people who want to live beyond their means and go to places like this to get a 60" plasma tv or other luxuries because they feel entitled to have the biggest/best of everything.  But I do have sympathy for people who are just trying to get by, working at low paying jobs.. living in not so great neighborhoods with few legitimate banks/major retail stores.  So they make minimum wage, have to go to some evil check cashing place that take a percentage of their meager paycheck. Then they hand over more money to places like rent-a-center just so they can have a bed to sleep in or a fridge.  Kinda hard to get ahead when that's your lot in life.

..... stepping slowly off my soapbox. :)

  3. rent-a-center is only out for the almighty dollar! if you need something try the thrift stores or freecycle.com for your area. guaranteed! those are your best bets and it beats paying for something at twice the price.

  4. .  I wondered about them. Everything in the store is bright and shiny and attractive. Thanks for the warning.

  5. When people refuse to pay their bills, good place for them!

    Pay 2,000 for a 600.00 tv.
