I have only been thru the airport there a couple of times.  I do know that crime problems are on the rise there.  Too long with letting the drug trade go unchecked.  I have found Brazilians to be great people.  (my wife is one)  Outside of the cities is my favorite.  My wife and her sons are actually afraid to venture out much when in Sao Paulo.  Not so bad as Rio but getting there.  Too bad, the people in general are great!  My visits will be primarily to the south.

Yes I would like to visit. I want to go to Carnaval. And go to a Batucada.

Actually I have been there.......I found it very dirty, noisy, and the people not too friendly.......

There are so many other beautiful places in Brasil to visit and where the people are alot nicer.

Travel guidebooks tend to give short shrift to São Paulo state and its municipal namesake. They are shortsighted. Skipping São Paulo is like covering your eyes during the gory scenes in a horror movie: you miss the best parts.
