Apparantly, South Dakota, Missouri, Vermont, Minnesota want to lower the age to 18, plus Kentucky, Wisconsin, and South Carolina want to lower it to 18 if you're in the armed forces.

Do you think this makes sense?

  1. Lowering the drinking age will result in raising the number of accidents/deaths due to drinking and driving.  People make such a big stink about smoking, but it's drinking that causes people to beat their wives and children, get into stupid fights, drive into telephone polls and lose their jobs.  And now they want to lower the age so more people can get a headstart on alcoholism?  brilliant.

  2. Anyone old enough to die for their country in George Bush's elective war ought to be able to buy a beer at a bar.

  3. In many European countries 16 year old kids can drink legally.  Seems to help them learn at an early age how to handle alcohol responsibly.

  4. I am pleased, when I was 18, drinking was legal, the age was then raised to 21. States should also consider legalizing marijuana as well. We should focus on enforcing violent crime, illegal immigration and the threat of terrorism rather than wasting resources on  those that choose to indulge. Our priorities need to be re-evaluated.
