"An eight-passenger sport utility vehicle, the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid from General Motors Corp, won the "Green Car of the Year" award at the Los Angeles Auto Show on Thursday.

The Tahoe Hybrid will be the first full-size hybrid SUV on the market when it goes on sale in early 2008."

The Tahoe hybrid is supposed to get about 21 mpg, roughly a 10% improvement over the regular Tahoe:

In fact, the Tahoe hybrid won't even get any better mileage than the regular Tahoe on the highway:

Smaller non-hybrid SUVs already get better mileage, such as the CR-V at 23 mpg

What do you think about an SUV with 21 mpg fuel efficiency being named 'Green Car of the Year'?

  1. It seems silly to me.  The new Hydrogen cars are THE green cars.

President Bush has moved us onto the path of clean geothermal/hydrogen energy and I wish it would get more publicity and support.

  2. You should not ask questions like this, being that you are a Postal Worker and such!  Please go to school, and not a muzzie one!!!  Thank you!  I'll help you!! Kisses!!

  3. Sigh. Commercialism is still getting more press than common sense.

  4. for that mileage you could almost drive two seperate, non-hybrid cars that get around 38-40 mpg highway, like our civic. It does beat my jeep though!

I'd say if it doubles the mpg of previous technology then it's worth bragging about, if not then it shouldn't be touted as a great new alternative.

  5. Consider the source.

  6. It shows we are doomed.

  7. We'll see if it sells. Most of the people who drive them are not worried about the financial or environmental costs anyway. And with the way people drive (drag racers in a 6000+ lb vehicle), 21 mpg is probably overrated.

But it's a step in the right direction with new technology.

  8. Well it may seem stupid that a Suv that does not even get as much as a small regular SUV should be considered the green car of the year. But a 10% imporvement is a great improvement. But I think in order for a car to be considred for the green car of the year it should get at least 30 MPG.

  9. i think its is so rad

  10. A car that requires that much metal (not to mention all the other resources) to be manufactured should not be allowed to be called green.

  11. I think it is total mulch, like I think of your "so called' armchair rump fed beslubbering scientific background!
