What do you think about the Chinese win over US in Beijing on Wednesday August 13th, 2008?

The coaches are coming up with all this bullshit about the chinese gymnast being to young to compete, just to get the US the gold but if you watched this performance you could see that the Chinese were totally superior to the Americans. Well at least that´s my opinion and that of the judges, the coreography was completely boring compared to that of the chinese. Age might have something to do but if the US thinks that they are the best no matter what age and condition their(the Americans) athletes are in then they have to be able to do it. Burn...

  1. The U.S. women's gymnastics made some MAJOR errors and didn't deserve the gold...but there IS ONE gymnast on the Chinese team that looks like she's 9 years old to me!!!!!  HOPEFULLY, the Olympics has some kind of screening program to verify entrant's age(s) BEFORE they are entered as potential Olympic competitors!!

I wonder if anyone reading this knows about whether there's some type of screening program the athletes go thru before the Olympics committee allows them to be named as potential competitors in the Olympics?  If anyone knows, please e-mail me the answer to this, I am GENUINELY interested in the answer.  Thanks!!!

  2. I don't think about it. I don't care who won. But yes, I believe those kids are underage.

  3. Well I am a HUGE USA fan but I think the Chinese deserved the gold.

I support my team all the way. I think this was just an off year for the USA.

    Congratulations China

    Go Team USA!!

P.S. To the person above me:

Kinda harsh statements you say toward a nation that supported you for 16 years. I'm not saying you should love America but you should appreciate.

You sir are very Ignorant which also makes you a hypocrite.

I guess "American Ignorance and hypocrisy" rubbed off on you  during those 16 years.

    EDIT:

CONSPIRACIES aren't going to make me turn my back on the US.

  4. shawn johnson and alicia are way hotter than anyone on china's team. burn...

  5. The conspiracy theory is that the Chinese girl athletes are definitely younger than everyone else on the gymnastics floor and possibly the diving arena.  Comparing how they look to the other world athletes, they did not go through puberty yet and are immature in their actions other than that fake forced cheezy goat teeth smiles, courtesy of the communist party.

I'd say that the Chinese use the boring 70's and 80's type of "basic" gymnastics like their winter figure skaters's programs.  The Americans were the innovators with daring moves and acrobatics that the Chinese would not dare perform otherwise the communist party will penalize their families for having fun!

The judges definitely were "trained" by the politburo before the games into letting Chinese mistakes go and to do whatever it takes to delay their opponents before performing and to psychologically mess them up.

Your opinion is just based upon cheating and not playing fair within the rules.  You are a dishonest person if you feel China did not cheat the World's athletes out of medal contention in diving and gymnastics or any other sport that they used young children or had judges in the palm of their hand.

  6. During the telecast one of the announcers kept saying how the Chinese are so inexperienced and that the USA are favorites to win because the Chinese team hasn't had much national exposure. No mention of them being under aged.

Once it became obvious that the Chinese team was going to win the announcer then said that the Chinese team must be under aged. And by being under aged they dont understand or feel pressure because they are too young so that gives them an advantage.

So what they are saying is that a bunch of High School seniors just lost to High School freshmen because the freshmen doesnt understand the concept of pressure...

The Chinese team have been preparing their entire lives for this and they are performing in front of their coaches, parents, friends and reprenting 1.3 BILLION people that inhabit the country of these Olympic games. How do they not feel pressure??

I'm so pissed that I have to watch NBC in order to watch these olympics and be subject this kind of bias.

Nobody can say that these girls are underage for sure except for their parents. For the American media to suggest that they are underaged based purely on how they look is just completely idiotic. People from different countries and culture age and look differently.

And the US media are ranking medals by the total amount of medals won, the rest of the world ranks by total gold medals won...go figure.

American ignorance, arrogance and hypocrisy never ceases to surprise me. And I've lived in both Beijing(8year) and the USA(16years) so I speak from experience.

    To the person below me:

You have a lot to learn my friend. The US is not what you think it is. Yes other countries are not perfect. But the US is just better at hiding it from the public, freedom of press or not. Did you know that recently you basically just lost your 4th Amendment rights?

Yes there are also a lot of great things about this country, just like there are great things about other countries. We really have to wake up and discover things ourselves, dont take everything you read or hear as truths.

  7. The age difference of the Chinese team vs. the USA is obviously different, but the Chinese still proved to do an outstanding job. Age had no affect on the mistakes that were made. It became a position where anyone could've beat the US in that round of routines because they faltered. I feel bad for Alicia Sacramone because she obviously looked disappointed in her performance. I mean it's human to make mistakes and she was injured, so hopefully better luck in 2012.

  8. Consider that two American answerers on this question in addition to an American article writer have stated that Americans need to stop whining about this topic.

Maybe it's time to stop whining about this topic.  The Chinese fans have been considerate towards the Americans, and very warm, in fact, towards the American basketball team.  It's time to pay back by acting like considerate losers, or else the "ungrateful losers and arrogant winners" tag will fall back onto the Americans' reputations.  The American athletes have acted gracefully so far, no need for their fans to mess it up for them.

I thank Michael Phelps and Jon for their honest contributions.

  9. I believe there is more than just cause to question the age and integrity of the Chinese national team.

The saddest part is how all this media is failing to report on the injustices by the Chinese government.

For one, these kids are ripped away from their homes by the time they are 3 years old and put through a Gymnastics BOOT camp until they have perfected what ever skill or routine to compete on a national stage.

Next these girls are younger and thus have an easier time controlling their body/balance thus giving them an advantage in competition over older gymnasts.

The easy solution is to create a size/weight class.

Split this up into 3-4 categories and make teams compete with one gymnast from each category.

Tumbling at 60 pounds of pre-menstrally developed bodies is much easier than 90 pounds of developed woman.  I mean this with respect ladies...please don't take this as a negative...I'm just pointing out that the body has developed differently and when a girl is a woman there are different and greater challenges to accomplishing the skills associated with Gymnastics.

What the Chinese have done is down right child abuse!!!   Yet the world is running around and celebrating this.

It's a sad state and the Media, once again is missing the boat!!!
