  1. I think its a bunch of BS!

I'm neither for the PAD nor the current Thai Administration.

To me both sides are just trying to gain control. It's total democracy turmoil!!!

They're all frauds and corrupted people, saying they are doing everything in the best interest of the country and it's people.

    Bullshit!!!

  2. Are you currently in the south or in Bangkok?  Because I'd like to know what you think.

Others say there's no problem.  I think it could escalate.  The Thais in Bangkok have the power and the Thais in the country have the vote if the Thais in Bangkok continue to ignore the voters and try to overthrow the duly elected Government, at some point  (and I think it will be when the King is no longer around) there will be a reckoning.  Especially if they continue to control the rice prices for their benefit at the detriment of the rice farmers.

  3. scary and disheartening. Why don't they give the process of democracy a

chance for at least a couple of years???

  4. I am an Australian living in Rural Thailand, I don't know much about government. but I see on TV about the world price of rice going up but my wife tells me her family won't get a better price, for their rice.

also does the army not have to take orders from the government.?Does the Primeminister, not have the power to tell the army what to do? Does the army have the power to take over again ?.

After living all my life in Australia, its hard to imagine how a mob can take control.I'm sure Australians would not except a mob expecting to change a government.

  5. nam, I couldn't agree with you more about there being a day of reckoning in the offing.

As to the current tensions in Bangkok, I am hoping it comes to a head in the next couple days so Thailand can move forward.

The continued protests and so on are a major distraction that is drawing attention from issues in Thailand that really should be addressed.

I am hoping that the current administration is dissolved, new elections are ordered, the PAD goes home, and some sense of normalcy is restored to the streets of Bangkok.

  6. What an unusual country Thailand must be. In my country the Prime Minister tells the Army what to. I guess in Thailand the Army tells the Prime Minister what to do. What's with that ? the Prime Minister is elected and the Army isn't.

BBC website said today: "Earlier, military and government sources told the BBC that the army commander, Gen Anupong Paochinda, who until this week had stood by the prime minister, had told him he had no choice but to resign."

  7. There's Political Tension In Thailand?

  8. Glad I'm not there. I'm for democracy & sometimes this is what it takes to get it, at least a start. Meanwhile ppl will get hurt.

Suebwonglee may be forced out, who knows.

If you are there or have family there, I hope all is well with you or them.

  9. I worry that Thailand's reputation for non-violence and being a good place to vacation for foreigners in going to be badly damaged. The foreign press is carrying a story that tourists were locked inside Phuket airport and had to escape by climbing over a fence. This will make a problem for the tourism industry as Phuket is one of the most famous vacation destinations in the world. I think many foreigners are arriving for vacation and are finding problems with Phuket airport. I think that they will not come to Thailand again and they will tell their friends about the problem they had taking a vacation in Thailand. This will be bad for Thai people that work in tourism industry, restaurant owners, hotel owners, and other jobs that have tourist customers.

  10. I see a crash coming...Cheap holiday anyone?

  11. It sucks for everyone.  But I have see no emergency, like everyone else here, life goes on.
