I know this topic keeps appearing, but with this new information, I am curious as to what everyone else thinks now.

It seems the IOC now agrees that there should be an investigation by the Gymnastics Federation into the ages of the Chinese gymnasts.

On-line today: "IOC asks for investigation of China’s gymnasts" http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/beijing/gymnastics/news;_ylt=AqzoDu.luOm5SZHrqv76z8iVTZd4?slug=ap-gym-underagechinese&prov=ap&type=lgns

What do you think about the IOC asking for an investigation now?

Do you think this should have been done when discrepancies were discovered? Or do you think it's just too late and it should be left alone?

If an investigation were to conclude the gymnasts were underage, do you think they should have their medals stripped? Or do you think the Chinese gymnasts should be able to keep them?

Thanks for your thoughts.

  1. I think with all the controversy going on, the best way to go is to investigate the matter.  The truth is the gymnast do appear to be to young to compete.  If they really aren't underage then their government should be more helpful in proving their age with other documents.  When you haven't done anything wrong the easiest way to fight something off is to provide the proof.  So I really think that China should do so.  They had a good team but if they are underage that really cheats out all the other competitors that played fair and for those that waited their chance until they get older.  And worst of all that means that China put their young athletes in harms way because their bones are more fragile at an early age. They should continue the investigations and if found guilty of lying they should strip their medals.  As harsh as they may be, it's China who is responsible for putting their gymnast in that position not anyone elses.  The Olympics is a world wide peaceful event, and is a place where cheating should never take place.

  2. Leave them alone!  Who cares?

  3. The Chinese government will do everything it can to keep Kexin's medals...and you know they can do ALOT.

  4. I think they should have looked further into it..but probably at that point it was just an accusation to them..but as more "proof" arises they feel they have to do all they can to investigate..good luck on answers to your q apparently people in this section are...childish..to say the least when it comes to discussions....

  5. I hope it is a real investigation and not a charade. We all know how spineless IOC is. Rogge can only criticize Bolt.

No, it is never too late. They have a lot of investigations going on. Do you know that they have been stripping gold medals this year from athletes who won in 2000 and 2004 Olympics because of some cheatings?

  6. It is just an investigation, doesn't mean IOC thinks China is gulity. The investigation is held because of media all over the world keep talking about it everyday. IOC is fed up with it and have to do something to shut them up. At least those people will not bother IOC again whether they found China is gulity or not later.

And you trust every word hackers say? They are criminals!
