  1. Bottom line is it  was 6 on 1 regardless of their race. It's against the law to beat up any person, it is not against the law to hang nooses from a tree. If  it had been 6 whites on 1 black not only would they be receiving the same charges as the Jena 6 but would also be charged with a hate crime. If it was  6 white on the 1 black, guarantee Jesse and them would be fighting anyway they could to lock up the whites.  I don't think it was right what the kids did by hanging nooses, but it was not up to the Jena 6 to handle the situation.

  2. Get there as soon as possible.

  3. I think that the race pimps Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are down there doing what they do best: Promoting themselves.

The only real loser here is the kid that was beaten by six other kids.  Where is the sympathy for him?  Where is the support for rule of Law and justice? Where is the outrage that a White was beaten by six Blacks for being White?

Those 6 that beat the other boy are criminals and that is that! They need a long stay on the county farm.  If I had done this with some friends of mine to a black I would be in jail on a hate crime! So why shouldn't they be in the slam as well?

And by the way do Jesse or Al give a flying leap that he was beaten?  No, they DO not!!  You see he is  White and that does not fit into the "discrimination" paradigm that they profit from and off of at the expense of others, like that Boy that was beaten!!

  4. If you look at the Jena Times, you will see the entire story and it stated that on December 4, 2006 6 black teens jumped a white teen and brutally beat him. There were not many whites and blacks in altercations at that incident,. Those altercations transpired in other racially charged fights that had been occuring within a four month period before the December 4th incident. This white teen was a victim of hatred and the black teens were making a statement of revenge. In this country, it does not matter what color you are, this is illegal and these teens are thugs. If black people are allowed to do this then white people will say that they should be able to do it too. They would be making a good point, but the law in this country states that this illegal all around. Martin Luther King Jr. was a pacifist even when it was against the worst kinds of racism, but in the end, he won civil rights for millions of African Americans. This should have been the example that these black teens should have followed, not fighting hatred with hatred.

  5. I don't think any of you who answered knows the complete story.  Six Black kids didn't just beat up some "innocent" white kid.  There was a group of kids (Black & White) that were fighting & one of the White kids got the worst of it.  Why is it ok for Blacks to have to tolerate being called ******* & such things.  Why do they just have to look the other way when knooses are hanging from a tree to warn them not to sit under "the white tree"???  Look up the whole story & if you still feel the same, then this country hasn't grown the way I thought it did.  I guarantee those kids wouldn't have hung anything from a tree if they lived in New York or California.  The south is still the same.  But they don't want to be called racists.  Go figure!!!

Furthermore... The protesters are not saying that the Black kids should get off scott free;  but the White kids shouldn't have gotten off scott free either.

Here... Read for yourself... The "whole" story...

excaliburhope... I never once called them "African American", so I don't know where that came from or why you mentioned that.  As for them getting out now... How long should they do for a fist fight?  Don't you think 15-30 years is too long?  They've been locked up for almost a year.  Don't tell me this has nothing to do with race.  If they were White kids... they would have been out by now.  I don't even think they would have gotten arrested.  You keep saying that there were 6 on 1.  If you read the link I provided, you would see that it's far from the truth.  Please don't try to speak to me about racism when you clearly haven't faced it.  As for Al Sharpton... I can care less about the guy.  All I know is I have 4 Black sons that I would never want to live in a southern state.

As for helpnout...It's ridiculous that we are even having the conversation of nooses being hung in the year 2007.  It is considered a hate crime & hate crimes "are" against the law... but I bet you don't think so!!!

  6. They broke the law. If those 6 get off, then it means whites should be able to beat the **** out of them with no penalty.

    That would be equal.

  7. OK.  Given the historical legacy of heightened racial tensions in Louisiana, I can see how the African American community would be tremendously outraged by some juvenile, idiotic, mindless prank.  On the other hand, we have this little thing in the United States called, "the rule of law."  Those 6 african american kids charged with beating the white kid have clearly violated the law.    It's up to the African American community to coordinate their behavior on a level of civility above that exhibited by the Jena 6.  Will they?  Probably not.  Outrage often goes untempered when it comes to race relations in this country.

  8. Tylergrl, hanging nooses doesn't give anyone the right to beat up anyone else. These kids got into a fight and I think 6 on 1 is a little unfair. Now if this was such a racist town I don't think 6 black kids would be able to beat up a white kid because there would be lots of people preventing it.

Now this is being used as a platform for Al and Jesse to further themselves. Racism is not black or white, it is the way a person feels. Many blacks are racists. Tylergrl says they aren't asking for the Jena 6 to be freed however every sign I see held up says free the Jena 6, like they did nothing wrong.

My point on all of this is first they aren't African Americans, they have never been to Africa, they are just Americans. I think we need to quit trying to separate ourselves. These 6 kids did something wrong, much like when I was growing up and each and every one of them should have been suspended from school. Even the white kid because he was fighting too. Kids have been getting into fights for hundreds of years and these kids didn't use guns or knives it was pretty much just an old time dust up.  Don't excuse any of them because of color.
