So I have a question. You know that artist that made that giant sculpture of Kate Moss? Would you think that someone would make a sculpture of a beautiful women that was timeless and beautiful in every way? Kate Moss is beautiful but shes heavily into drugs. I dont know, I would of done one of someone else that stood for somthing outside of being physically beautiful.

What do you think?

  1. I dont think Marc Quinn was focusing on creating something beautiful to represent the idea of beauty. I think she represents a modern spirit, the modern idea of beauty.

check out this wiki article it definitely gives you an answer.

  2. Kate Moss is considered an icon regardless of her drug taking, and in portraying her in this giant statue Marc Quinn actually speaks as much about our society as he does about the girl herself. He confronts us with our own ideas and perceptions of beauty (as projected onto her and other icons), and if he makes others as yourself ask what are our ideas of beauty when it is accompanied by destructive lifestyle, then it has achieved probably as the artist set out to do. Rather than the statue being about kate moss it is a statue OF her and ABOUT our ideals as a society. :-)

(sorry for the caps i dont know where to find italics on this keyboard!)

  3. i think if i had two 55 pound bars of gold bullion i'd find something else to do with it. casting a gold statue is ALOT of hard work and i'm just not that ambitious.
