I think we have a real chance to Turn things around in the next 2-3 years. If the young core guys continue to grow this season, while the chemistry improves with another year together. Then we can make a big splash in the free agent market in 2009 or 2010 with all the money from the KG trade and other recent trades. I think the T-Wolves could be serious contenders. What are your thoughts?.....

  1. We will never fully recover from the Joe Smith incident, and now with the Kevin Garnett trade, we will be lucky if we are still a franchise in 5 years!

  2. Yeah, the Celtics fans said that too before they traded all of them to Minnesota.

I don't see any way they are going to improve much without some significant changes.

  3. the twolves will never be good again

  4. Lol, I'll let you know after you tell me about the Knicks' future.

  5. Well, the trade with memphis was a brilliant one. Mike Miller and K. Love will be great additions. But trading away Roy for R. Foye was just stupid. If you trade Roy on draft night you should try to get Aldridge or g*y in exchange. Giving up KG was dumb espically with the packaged players including busts like Telfair and G. Green, but Jefferson and Gomes are awesome. What they need is for a little bit of lotto love and then sign a real center and play Jefferson at PF, then this team might actually be contenders.

  6. There is potential, but only time will tell.  Love, Jefferson, Brew-Co, Richard, Gomes, are some studs but they're lacking up front.  If they can aquire a player that people would consider a "star" then I think they'd be playoff bound.

  7. Minor improvements...possibly 30-40 wins this season.

  8. I don't see the Wolves being that much better next season.  They had all that cap space and all of those expiring contracts and they still didn't manage to address their lack of a talented PG or their complete lack of a true C.

Their '08 draft was pointless IMO - Kevin Love plays the same position as their best player (Al Jeffeson) so one of the two is going to be playing out of position at C all year since McHale didn't bother drafting a C that was eligible to play in the USA for 3 years (!!).  They also traded away arguably the best PG prospect in the draft (Mayo) and then re-signed Sebastian friggin Telfair to be their PG instead!

Randy Foye is playing totally out of position when they make him play PG (and it shows), and Mike Miller isn't going to stretch the defense much more than Rashad McCants and Randy Foye already do (both are ~40% 3-pt shooters).

Unless Minnesota signs some blockbuster C or PG in the next year or two, I don't see them getting much better.  Al Jefferson just had a 21ppg 11reb season and the Wolves couldn't even win 25 games with that roster next to him!
