I'm gonna go with the idea of it being a raccoon.  There's been suggestions that it's a pig or a capybara but the skull is clearly that of a raccoon and there have been several clear representations and super-impositions to demonstrate this.

Ever heard of the Montaulk Project??  Read the book by Preston Nichols. Basically it was a mind controll, time travel etc.  Sometimes the experiments got out of control and people were lost, went nuts or strange creatures/phenomenon appeared.  My guess is this creature is linked to that.  It could be something from the past, a govt genetic mutation experiment gone wrong, soemthing from the depths of the ocean or just a freak of nature from inbreeding too.....who knows

Monster, schmonster, some people really need to lay off the conspiracy c**p. It's a dead bloated raccoon, hair has sloughed off the body, nasal cartilage is gone, and missing upper front teeth. Closeup comparison to a raccoon skull clearly shows the recognizable dental pattern, as well as the characteristic paw configuration and relative size (approx. 2 1/2 feet). I've seen enough skinned animals to know that they look strikingly different without fur. Nothing out of the ordinary.

They'll say it's a hoax, even if it isn't. I believe it to be some sort of animal experimentation that washed up from plum island. I was intrigued by this story so I went on the plum island website (the animal disease lab near by) & found out that the land, buildings, & other facilities of the plum island animal disease center were transferred to the department of homeland security in june 2003. I think it's pretty weird how the they have so much security & it's only accessible by boat. (basically closed off from prying eyes & the inquiring minds)
