I think this will fall into the category of one more of those "one-day scandals."  It is pretty sensational, but whose mind will this change?  For those who support Obama, he is not, nor was he ever, a Muslim... so this magazine will not mean much.  For those who look at the cover and believe what it portrays... well, those people were not planning to vote for him anyway.

  12. so people on here are saying its because of the extreme right?? the New Yorker is a liberal magazine, i do believe it is satire with poor taste, i think Obama doesn't have a clue and is extremely unqualified to be president, especially during war time that he knows nothing about, the surge is working, our troops are doing a great job, and Obama acts like its a quick fix, its not, but i do think he and his wife should be respected, this is upseting, i also don't like when they try to demean McCains 5 years of being a war prisoner, he is a war hero and should be treated like one

Considering it was a satire of some of the most egregious rumors, i.e. that Obama is Muslim and the hoax that Fox news called the fist bump "terrorist" (a hoax of a rumor), etc, then it was meant to be a provocative look at rumors. Or more specifically, a look at all the false rumors about their messiah, Obama.

    I doubt they'd do anything to dispel the false rumors abounding in the leftist blogosphere about McCain. After all, he is the evil figure their messiah will be battling before rising to heaven.

    The whole controversy is overblown.

  14. Unfortunately, Obama's past and words give the cover some merit.  I think the cover exaggerates his leanings somewhat-but his actions have many concerned where he stands.
