I think it stinks!

National Anthem for National Anthem..that works. But' oh p-lease, don't insult a call to battle, just before the battle, with a display of tuneful harmonies & gentle swaying!

I'm sick of the Rugby Unions of other nations trying to quash the NZ tradition of performing the haka.

The haka is a blood rousing start to a match.

Instead of preventing it, why don't the other rugby nations use their imaginations & drawn on their greater historic wealth to come up with a challenge of their own? Something like the scene from Braveheart when the Scots 'moon / brown-eye' the Poms perhaps? A Hutu or Tutsi war dance would be awesome to see!

Let's face it, when charging in for the 'kill' "Hen Wlad fy Nhadau", "God Save The Queen", "Flower of Scotland", "Soldiers Song", "Advance Australia Fair", "Nkosi sikelel' iAfrika", or "Marcha de la Patria" hardly do the trick when you want to pump some serious adrenaline!

  1. Why should the Welsh pander to New Zealand preciousness?

Actually - why should the Welsh now respect anything New Zealand, after the onslaught we recieved off journalists during the week?

    "Villiage Idiots"?

On any other sporting occasion it is always the Home team that has the final word in ceremonies...what makes NZedders different exactly? -  particularly when it is generaly known that they're throat slitting, threatening sickening ickle war dance gives them a massive competitive advantage...

They're displays of nationalism are no more important than anyone elses.

The Haka isn't so more symbollic or important than anyones anthem, that they cannot compromise etc.

They started to believe it was, by putting it on last and demanded the final word -  became precious about it and  toys left pram..

  2. In fact all the anthems you mention including La Marseillaise and Star Spangled Banner are songs about battle.

I agree with your views entirely.

  3. im a welshman and i was gutted that the haka wasnt shown, myself i think its  crock of **** and they should have left them get on with it on the feild

  4. The Welsh don't owe New Zealand any respect. Who do they think they are, demanding every team stands in silence and watch 22 grown men dance around like idiots. New Zealand needs to grow up.

  5. i wholly agree with you i think it is an abomination to try and destroy a nations spirit by removing its tradition, however being south african i must say that nkosi sikileli is a brilliant rugby song

  6. its a great spectacle, one of the best in world sport. I love watching it and i assume opposition players who watch it get more up for the game when facing it. Bring it back!!!!

  7. It was stupid. Even though they did it in the changing room, it still wasnt the same even though the boys looked even more fired up.

  8. This whole business is firing up war of words!

The haka is a great rugby tradition, but in every ground all over the world, the home team always has the last say before KO, IE they sing their  anthem last! So why should the Nz have it different? They would not like it in their own back yard to be told wot to do! The WRU told NZRU in October that the haka would be preformed in between the two anthems! The AB's then changed their mind on Saturday!

Maybe "Hen Wlad Fy'n Nhadau" may not pump adrenaline, but it sure as h**l, fires the passion!
