  1. Very bad idea, they could get a couple of solid players for that pay instead of picking one previously sorta solid aging ex Maple Leaf!

  2. They have to try to overpay because they have no offense...but Sundin is worth every penny

  3. They're a desperate team who wants a great player to save them, but Sundin doesn't want to go to a team that doesn't have a legit chance at the Cup, therefore they must try to lure him with the money. That's all I really think about it.

  4. They must really want him to sign with them.  Can't see him getting a better offer.

  5. Great player from a talent standpoint.

Told Toronto media and fans that he wanted to end his career in T-O, so character questionable if he goes elsewhere.

Not enough to significantly impact the Canucks.  Vancouver would have one very good line with Sundin and the Sedins, but nothing else.  Ottawa has already shown that a single line - no matter how good it is - can't win the Cup.

  6. 2 much money, 1 person dosent make a team how will they get more help and GO PENS

  7. A waste of money.  You could have 2 or 3 great players for that price.  Sundin is a great player but what if he gets hurt after the 1st game.........a waste is it worth the risk?  NO

  8. "Does this not reek of desperation and stupidity."

  9. I think that is ridiculous, if he takes that he is getting paid more then Ovechkin & Crosby. Keep in mind that Sundin is close to retirement.

  10. No offense to you fans but Vancouver is going to h**l. Even 10 mill a year isnt enough to play for them anymore. They let Naslund go and will probably trade Bieska. They're finished. Still better than the Leafs.

  11. A JOKE and to let Naslund just walk away....... Nobody is worth that much, in any sport.

  12. If you had a net worth in excess of $100MM would you be tempted by $10MM per year someplace you didn't want to play rather than $7MM at home? Thanks but no thanks.

  13. Absolutely a sham...!!! The Canucks have NEVER been a winner -they never will... They're willing to go to any means to try and bring this Mickey Mouse outfit up to par -again they never will.

Their players, and management just don't have hockey smarts... - Oh THEY think they have, so if that's what they think, how many Stanley Cups have they won...?

That's why they tried to lure Mats Sundin...  How soon they forget the Mark Messier times...?  He took their money and said THANK YOU...!!!!

Anybody would do the same knowing there's no chance of this organization winning the BIG ONE...

They'll be talking the same situation this time next year..

  14. they could've gotten alot more with 20million with other(younger) UFAs.They're really saying "Ok his gonna play 2more years so that gives us the next two years to win the cup"

  15. ovechkin, kovalchuk, maybe even heatley might be worth that,  sundin is not worth 10 a year,   maybe 5 a year

  16. It means nothing.

Sundin can take half that and still make many times as much by remaining in Toronto.

#13 will be having his 14th season as a Mapleleaf come October.  I guarantee it.

The business opportunities and other ventures that he has in the Toronto area are so huge that he would never risk that by signing with another team.  Mats is gonna make as much money in the future than he ever made in the NHL, as long as he remains a Leaf.  If he were to retire, that would be fine also, but he will NOT be wearing some other NHL team's jersey.  I guarantee it.
