  1. It is a good thing, more money for the poor is good. Specially now that everything is going up in prices.

  2. There shouldn't be a minimum wage law at all. One size does not fit all. Not everybody has the same minimum needs. Some people may be willing to work for any wage, and they should be allowed to work any time they want for whatever wages they want.

And, by the way, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down minimum wage laws in the 1920s and 30s. They later reversed that precedent. But when they rendered the original decisions, they gave reasons just like the ones I just mentioned.

  3. Way too little, makes no sense at all.

  4. If the dollar continues to decline in value, inflation will continue to rise.  A raise in the minimum wage is only a temporary fix to a deeper issue.

  5. It's about friggin' time. Did you know that the minimum wage in Australia is about $14 an hour? Yet the cost of living in the US is WAAAAY above theirs.

Increase in minimum wage should have happened a long time ago... a very long time ago.

  6. I have a feeling that the cost of things are going to go up where they use a lot of minimum wage people.

  7. bad thing.  same as "printing more money"---causes inflation.

  8. With the prices of gas and food right now, I think it's necessary. People with low paying jobs need to make ends meet, too.

  9. McDonald's happy meals just went up again.

  10. It's  a good thing.  Every community that has raise min wage on it's own has experienced increased tax revenue, lower welfare rolls, and a growth in the economy.

Give consumers money to spend an it helps everyone.  Give money to the rich and it helps only a few.

    BTW, thank the Democratic Congress

  11. I kind of think it's silly..but necessary. However, the last time they announced minimum wage was going up, the price of everything DOUBLED almost 6 months before minimum wage went up.. Minimum wage went up again..prices will go up too.. what good does it to raise minimum wage  $1.00 an hour if a hamburger is going up $1.25.. People cannot get ahead. Minimum wage will ONLY be sufficient if prices do not go up with it.

I agree that everyone should be making at LEAST the same amount per hour depending on where you live..which is still a lot more than what it is now..but there are still places that don't follow that.. Places that have waitresses and pay half of that.. that is wrong.. they are entitled to get the FULL minimum wage and tips. Why should sally have to take her wages to make up the difference when she's polite and a hard worker and you have Lisa, who is rude and a slacker who makes no tips but still gets minimum wages.. IT's wrong.

Wages should be based on your education, and experience. I know people that work in nursing homes, etc which is TOUGH work.. and they have been doing it for years but they still only get the "new" minimum wage.. that's wrong..

  12. I think employers should be able to pay whatever the job is actually worth to them. Let competition determine the wages. Maybe people will be motivated to learn more skills and work harder.

It will only force the price of goods and services higher, so it helps noone...except your conscience.

I think you could actually fire everyone at my Walmart and hire back half the number of people (who have intelligence and skills) at twice the pay and get twice as much work out of them.  But I guess that would just be mean...

  13. I think it's very necessary now to increase (actually really good increase) in minimum wage, but i know it's not going to happen when monkeys are in white house who like to spend more in wars.

  14. I regard it as a bad thing.

    Minimum wage = minimum skills.

Increasing the minimum wage is nothing more than a subsidy for those people who are unwilling to improve themselves.

  15. I am glad... But I also live in California where the state minimum wage is like 12/no benies...  Which forces companies to pay waaaaay better than that.

If you dont live in CA, or New England/Tristate area you actually get paid those low wages...
