What do you think about the models on page 3 of the sun, should a male photo be added in fairness?

or should this cattle market type thing be scrapped.

I mean who needs to see a half naked or in some cases nearly naked woman first thing in the newspapers?

Would the women out there like a male model etc next to the female for equality? Views please.

  1. Well, I seem to remember that a few years ago some tabloids decided that as well as doing the Page Three girls, they would do the Page Seven guys, but when I look at a tabloid newspaper these days, that seems to have gone out of the window.  Are guys less inclined to do it?  I don't think so.  It's an earner.  And I THINK women like to look at young, ripped guys.

But I agree with you - scrap the whole thing, and focus more on informing men and women of what is really happening in the world.  (But then I wouldn't trust a tabloid to do that).

  2. I used to be passionately against it, until I dated one. (This is true!) She was a very well educated woman, a BA, and a feminist. Her argument was that far from being exploited, she felt she was totally in control, and earning easy money from the male dominated media, which she put towards her education and raising her daughter.

  3. It should just stop! And to the first answer a girl who gets naked for a rubbish newspaper is certainly NOT a feminist! It is against everything feminism stands for. A woman is not an object and the page 3 girls are doing nothing for equality!

  4. The Sun.C'mon LB does anyone who cares buy it?

  5. Yes, yes, yes to the male model! lol!! Nah, don't care cos I don't read the Sun and I've got a pair of knockers that would knock YOUR eyes out, mate!! Heh!  Mind you, tried the equality bit years ago when I worked in Aviemore.  The male bar staff put up nudie calenders and pin-up pics in the staff area at the back of the bar. Not a word of complaint from the boss men  - well, they couldn't cos their tongues were hanging out too far! So, me and a couple of the gals got some male pin-ups (from Playgirl mag, etc) and wouldn't you just know it but all the guys went ape-sh it! Told us to take them down but we stood our ground and said that if OURS were coming down, so were THEIRS and if not, we were going to the papers. Guess who won?

  6. If naked people can be seen in the media all the time then people should be allowed to walk around naked.

What's with all the taboo about nudity. We all have bodies, we are all either male or female, we are all the same basically, so why can't we walk around in what we were blessed with?

  7. They put those photos there to sell papers. I doubt there is much of a market there for people buying papers to see naked guys.

Having said that have a naked person on page three of a paper is a great indicator of the quality of journalism you are likely to see...e.g avoid!

  8. Thing is that women aren't generally that interested in seeing some bloke with half his kit off so it doesn't sell papers.  Some paper tried having a page 5 guy for a while, but it didn't work.

  9. Obviously there's a market for it otherwise it would have been phased out but if some guy dangling everyday would increase sales then they'd try it but it comes down to how many v women buy newspapers. I can't remember the last time I saw a woman reading a newspaper v a gossip/fashion mag.

  10. The  brainwashing  SUN  has  lost  it.  All  newspaper  sales  are  down.  Recycle  it  for  toilet  paper.  The  'audience'  has  grown  up!

  11. Hey I'm available to do it!

  12. is hardcore allowed in newspapers?
