It is pronounced like Kale, or rhymes with pail. We had a a son pass away last year and I thought the meaning of this name was very nice. The book I have says it means messenger of God, or angel. It says that it is a Latin name, but when I look it up other places it says that it is Hebrew. We are not Hebrew, but Catholic. Anyways, what is your opinion of the name? I am finding out that each baby name book or website says something different about the meaning, and I wonder if I should even consider the meaning in a book at all. For instance, my book says that Bo means precious son. Other places it says living.

  1. I love that name, that was one of my options for a boy name, but I decided on Braydin!

  2. Sorry for your loss.  I don't think I would spell it  Chael.  Kale or Cale would be better and you could still have the meaning.

  3. I really like that name. I like the meaning "messenger of God", it's a really good name.

  4. I knew a guy named Chael except it's pronounced like "Shayle."

Maybe u should spell it like Cale or Kale to avoid confusion.

  5. Kale sounds like Kal-el

which is a Superman Comic Book name

    -Meg

  6. my name is Kayle (pronounced as Kale)

  7. If you like the name I prefer the spelling Kale. It's hard to really choose a name by meaning, just like you said, it could say one thing one place, and one thing another. How about this - if you feel that's the name, then go for it, stick with the meaning is Messenger of God and let that be that. Your always going to find that other people don't agree with what someone else puts down on paper. SO for the sake of being different, they put something else down.

  8. Chael Azrael
