I like the name, but the reaction I get from people when they ask me what I want to name my baby if it is a girl makes me wonder if it's a stupid name. Just wanted to know what people thought.

  1. I think it's a unique name, but not too "off the wall". It's nice, and provides a possible nickname of Emma?

  2. I think it's a beautiful name. But, think about her having to learn to spell it. I personally prefer short names.

  3. I think that it is very elegant and sounds very upperclass.

But it is beautiful without being overdone.

    Hope I helped! :-)

  4. Really cute name.

  5. Beautiful [:

    Very elegant

  6. i think cordelia is cute..... if i was gonna have a girl i was gonna name her that..... cus my babys daddy name is corderial...but im havin a boy

  7. it's cute although, Emmaline Rose, Emmaline Belle, Emmaline Reese, or Emma Cordelia sound better.

    Anyway good luck :)

  8. That's a long name. Think about when she's in pre-k trying to learn to write that, poor baby.

  9. I really like Emmaline but not Cordelia. How about Emmaline Adele or Emmaline Renee?

  10. i think its a nice name

    very unique

its also very long, its ok if your last name is shorter

but if your last name is very long maube shorten the name, to Emma

  11. It's very regal and elegant. It sounds like a beautiful name for an adult. Maybe just nick name her Emma while she's young? (That's easy to spell in kindergarten, also.) and Emmaline when she's older and appreciates the originality.

  12. I love it! Its really beautiful. You probably get that reaction because its a different name, but it is a very beautiful unique name though. I think you were creative and did a great job of it. And it would be cute to call her Emmie for short too.

  13. Both Cordelia and Emmaline are absolutely gorgeous. Cordelia Emmaline flows a little better than Emmaline Cordelia though. If you'd like to use the original combo, try adding another middle name to make it sound more complete. Since both Emmaline and Cordelia are three syllables long, a one syllable middle name would help end the combo.

    Emmaline Cordelia June

    Emmaline Cordelia Hope

    Emmaline Cordelia Belle

    Emmaline Cordelia Eve

    Emmaline Cordelia Rose

Gorgeous name here. I hope you stick with it. :]

  14. It's a nice name, unfortunately, not everyone is going to remember her full name since they're two longer, unique names. Emmaline is beautiful but I would mix it with a less-complicated middle name. Here are some suggestions:

    Emmaline Rose

    Emmaline Renee

    Emmaline Carolyn

    Emmaline Sage

    Emmaline Kate

    Emmaline Ray

    Emmaline Gabrielle

    Emmaline Taylor

    Emmaline Corrinne

    Emmaline Nicole

    Emmaline Sophia

    Emmaline Catherine

    Emmaline Samantha

    Emmaline Jay

  15. i think they are really pretty .

i love nicknames , and emma is a really nice one , but i don't think cordelia really makes one .

other then that , they are cute [:

i like emmaline the best  .

  16. I like that name but as it is quite old fashioned (wich dosn't mean bad) it is quite possible that your kid might be teased in school ... but  i personally love the name !

  17. i dont like it sorry

its kind of like vegemite you either love it or hate it!

  18. i love emmaline...

i went all the way from elementary school to high school with a girl named cordelia.  she was smart and nice, but just really odd and crazy! unfortunately the name is scared for me...

  19. the problem isn't the names, they're beautiful. but together, its a bit much. try to mix the names up with understated middle names that are also pretty...just more simple. liiiiikkke.....Cordelia Mae, Emmaline Rose...even if you split the two names up with a short middle name. that might work depending on the last name.

my cousin has 2 middle names and it works. :)

  20. It's a fabulous name!

What kind of reaction are you getting from people?  If they are responding negatively to the name, then they're not very creative.  The sad thing is, if you tell people you're naming your child something extremely trendy, like Emily Isabella or Madeline Sophia, most people will gush and gush about how "beautiful" and "original" your choice is.  If you tell them you're naming your child something that truly is beautiful and uncommon, most of them will crinkle their noses and say it sounds too odd or old-fashioned.  I think people have a hard time with names they're not familiar with.  Uncommon names take some getting used to, but your family and friends WILL get used to it.

Don't listen to the people who tell you the name is too long.  Madeline Sophia has the same number of syllables, but no one would tell you THAT name sounds too long.  Emmaline Cordelia is great the way it is.  You've put the more user-friendly name in the first position, and it can be easily shortened to all sorts of lovely nicknames -- Em, Emmy, Emma, Lina.  The middle name is a little less easy to wear, as it's not as similar to any popular names and it doesn't give you as many nickname options, but that's exactly why it's perfect for the middle name slot.

If the reactions of other people really bother you and you would prefer to have a name more people would find "cute" upon a first hearing, you might try switching out the middle name for something slightly more familiar.  I've found that people respond a lot more positively to name combinations when ONE of the names is well-known.  That doesn't mean you need to pick something in the top 10 or 100, but something in the top 500 might make the name more accessible to people.  Here are a few suggestions:

    Emmaline Cecelia

    Emmaline Cassandra

    Emmaline Miranda

    Emmaline Serena

Of course, if you love Emmaline Cordelia, then leave it at that!

  21. I don't like it, sorry, but all that matters is if you like it and if you do then go for it.

  22. If you can just change the d from Cordelia to Cornelia will be more better.

    **Good Luck**

  23. Emmaline Cordelia is stunning! I love it. Another option would be Emmaline Camille, but Cordelia works just great.

  24. I have a cousin named Cordelia Cerise.  We call her CC or Cordie for short.  I think your name is unique!  Use it for your daughter and don't listen to what other people think.

  25. They are very old fashioned names, that is all.   I would pass on the Cordelia completely.   I love Emmaline, but again, it is old fashioned.  I still love it anyway.   But maybe only one old name would suffice, and the middle name could be more current?   Like Emmaline Marie or Emmaline Joy, or something shorter to offset the long first name.  What you have is two long names, both old fashioned so it is overkill.

  26. it's beautiful- a mouthful- but beautiful. it's unusual which is why people give you the weird reactions, not because the name is horrid.

have you thought about giving the second name a change to something simple like emmaline jade ??? i do like cordelia but it;s definately a mouthfull  having two names that are very -what's the word i'm looking for- pronounced, very long!?! do you get where i'm coming from??

    again though- beautiful name.

  27. It's very elegant. I wouldn't name my baby that (no offense) because I am not into those kind of names. You shouldn't let other people decide what to name your baby though. If you like the name then go for it I say. Good luck with your new beautiful baby girl. :)

  28. I think you should definitely call your daughter this name, because it is very unique, and special, and as far as what other people think, now it really doesn't matter does it? This gift is being given to you from God, I'm sure He likes it, so what's the problem? Its not neccessary to what other people think! You're right in what you want  to name your daughter!Congratulations! And May God Bless You and your entire family!

  29. what are you going to actually use in everyday life.  Emma, or Delia, or Cordy,

The name is pretty but formal  and not common at all.

  30. Emmaline is one of my favorite names. I personally prefer the Emmeline spelling. I also love Cordelia, a good friend of mine has a dd with that name. People are just not used to the name because it is different than the norm.

  31. it is beautiful
