The name Valerie, though it is relatively unpopular these days, is a strong name and may be a feminization of the word "valor". You need to also consider that when she is grown popular names will have changed much, and will not be the same as now. Valerie will either have regained popularity or be considered an uncommon name, which is the same as it's going to be popular again

You never know with names. Besides, those of us who have carried our names for over 50 years have found that our image and acceptance within our spheres of influence have done more to determine the popularity of our names than the other way around. Three years ago mothers would have hated to name their boy babies Barak. Now, based on the popularity of a man with that name, many baby boys will be given the name.

That means that we can make a name eternal and imortal. If you name your baby girl Valerie, that's good. If she makes her own name increasingly popular through the years, that's great.

I think a more up to date version of the name is better then Valerie ALTHOUGH there is nothing wrong with the name at all.

It is more of a old 80/90s name SOO if thats what u like then GO FOR IT!
