  1. ridiculous, with a tiny budget will it be any better than formula renault/ bmw?

gp2 is expensive but needs 2 be to prep drivers for f1.

  2. .

F2 blocks GP2, Bernie's nose get knocked out of joint. Be nice to see, harder to do and impossible on 200k euros I would think...

    .

  3. In the words of an unnamed GP2 team boss: 'bullsh*t.'

People will still see GP2 as the feeder series.

200k come on. In F1 they spend that much on team wear.

  4. It's FIA on the counter attack, it appears they were convinced by Mosley that Bernie has set his sights on taking away F1 from the FIA.

200 grand a year is unrealistic, it will not be made to cost that little or it will be rubbish, it's going to cost as much as GP2.

Perhaps even more in the long run if it's not as well thought out.

But they have to market it somehow in order to make sense, so they market it as low cost.

How else are they going to convince the world it needs another Formula  to prepare drivers for F1?

It's kinda stupid really but politicians say a lot of stupid things that are out of the realm of possibility, still they say them and people like to hear them.

They don't want it to run parallel to GP2, they want it to kill GP2  at some time or another and take it's place, simple as that.

And that's not too difficult to achieve, they can run it alongside F1 and shut the door on GP2, that alone, should do it.

They have the power so why should Bernie get the money instead?

The more I think about it the more it makes sense.

Next thing I'll be yelling "GO FIA, GO"...

  5. Its BS, GP2 is already established. I think they are just taking about because of the friction between Max and Bernie. The price isn't 200000 US dollars its 200000 euros which is about 320000 US dollars, still not alot to fund a team though.

  6. i agree with both the persons above me...and also i strongly feel that $200000 is very less considering the fact that they are trying to create a feeder series for 'F-1'.......in this budget i think they will be creating a series in which drivers will get paid seats and a good way to loot those poor drivers.....

  7. It seems entirely unrealistic to me, on the basis of projected cost and the lack of need for yet another series.

They expect a whole season to cost around $200000, yet there are people who are spending that on a season of KARTING, let alone a season in what should be an F1 feeder formula. I don't see how that is going to happen...either the costs wil have to be as high as GP2, or it will have to be heavily subsidised, or the cars will be utter rubbish.

I don't see where it is going to fit into the big scheme of things either. What is the point of GP2 if you want to have Formula 2 as the new "official" feeder series? Some kind of behind-the-scenes power struggle, as you mention, would appear to be the secondary motivation, behind making ever more money from ever more advertising and ever more TV deals...
