as said, good and bad. i think that the one passenger rule is a load of c**p. that will make things much harder, i am glad that i missed out on that rule. think of how much it would put you out??  not all  P platers are hoons, the ones who go out and get themselves killed are the ones doing stupid things. for all of the others this makes things hard.

i think that crushing the cars is a good idea. it might teach them. taking a car off someone for 24hours isn't much of a lesson is it?? crushing the car making the owner cover the costs is the way to go. that will teach them.

I think that if they're going to put restrictions in, it must apply to every state and territories or there WILL be loopholes. Btw not all p platers are hoons, we drive better than full licence drivers sometimes.

Put it this way.

If P platers only had their P plates for 1 year, less P plated related deaths will occur.

Example

Person A is a 1 year p plater (in NT), crashes his car on his second year. Is this a p plater related death? No, because he would have been on his full licence at the time of the crash.

Person B is a 3 year p plater (nsw, vic), crashes his car also on the second year. This would be a p plater related death as he would have crashed his car when he was still on his provisionals.

And with the passenger restrictions, people will

A) either drive home drunk because their mates won't drive them home or..

B) drive with more than 1 passenger illegally.

Something needed to be done....anything that saves lives is good.

Good and bad - they punish those who do the right thing, and they say that young drivers account for 1/3 of all the deaths, then shouldnt they be targetting the other 2/3? It just annoys me.
