I think that Big Brown should have choosen 19 instead of 20, not like it would make that big of a difference but, oh well. I still think he can win! His trainer even said "I'm not worried about what position he gets, it won't matter because he'll win no matter what." I love how he is so confident!

I think the draws are in good spots, and I also love how Visionaire got #8 just like Barbaro did with Matz.

  2) Gayego (drew the farthest post position besides Big Brown which could be a disadvantage)

I am loving Pyro and Colonel John.  I know I am going to get thumbs down and this is my opinion and if ppl dont like it then I am sorry (your problem). I really hate how Rick is being so confident. I wish all the trainers were like Carl Nafzger (humble). I believe that Big Brown is not going to win. I believe that one of the 2 main closers in the race (Colonel John and Pyro) will win. Big Brown has just got a terrible spot (face it). You could tell after the draw that Rick wasnt as confident. I mean I know your a Curlin fan and he couldnt win the derby off of 3 starts and with a bad spot so how is Big Brown supposed to? And Big Brown is doing his last work on Thursday. It could blow out all his energy.

#9 pyro could not have drawn in any better! then box 1,4.10.16. in a photo for second! trifecta,superfecta box will pay very good! big brown will look forward to the preakness with his speed...shorter race...good racing!

I think Eight Belles is definitely in the Derby because she got such a bad post in the Oaks.

I am going with a exacta Colonel John/Eight Belles.

I think that Pyro and Cool Coal Man will be close to the front too.  I just think that Big Brown is going to be too overwhelmed in the 20 spot, but I could be wrong.

Anyone else so totally peeved that ESPN2 continued a stupid 30 minutes of comments of a soccer game that had ended and ran the post draw NOT live but taped. I wrote two emails to them.

I think the #20 spot may really beat on Big Brown's chances to win, but then again, he's the only Florida Derby winner from the twelfth spot ever, so you might say he has a history of overcoming the wide post.

Also, I think this means that Eight Belles will probably give the Derby a shot (which is always a good thing).

I love Eight Belles' post position!  I was so excited when she took 5 instead of 11 and I was even more excited to see who ended up to her inside.  She's going to get a great trip saving ground at the rail.  Since it might be a slower pace, the race might set up better for a stalker like her than a closer like Pyro or Colonel John.  If it's a slower pace and she breaks out at the 3/8 pole, the others just might not be able to catch her!  Her connections were looking for a sign for which race to enter and this is huge... outside of 12 or 5 of 20.  It's great.  I am very excited.  And I watched the draw right before I took my remedies final and couldn't concentrate at all ;o)

I expected Visionaire to get the 8 post when I saw that he was choosing first.  I knew Michael took the 8 for Barbaro and I expected him to do the same with Visionaire not only because 8 is a good post, but because of the extra luck.  That was exciting.  Visionaire is going to be a good price.  I don't know if he can close as well as Pyro and Colonel John, but it will be fun to see if he can.

Pyro and Colonel John got great posts... it was obvious that they would since they were choosing 3rd and 5th ;o)

Adriano is going to be an excellent price!  I can't believe that He and Big Truck are the highest prices on the board!  Both horses have won races!  They gave lower odds to Anak Nakal and Z Humor and nonsense horses like that who haven't won races in forever.  I know there's the big "?" with the surface, but if Edgar and the trainer said Adriano = Barbaro, then I'm on board... maybe not for the win, but he'll be a great price to show.

As for Big Brown, our opinions differ and I will leave it at that.  I know you like him so I'm not going to sit here and try to start an argument about his talent and ability to overcome that silly post position.  I'll just say good luck with that ;o)

My tri currently (taking into account that I just took a 3 hour essay exam and haven't gotten to analyze all the post positions and odds and such yet) is a box with Eight Belles, Pyro, Colonel John, Z Fortune, and maybe in the 3 spot add in Visionaire, Adriano, and Denis of Cork (I'm really glad he made the field).

Rhonda, I know I was so mad about that too!  I had an exam today so I had the news of the post position on my computer before the exam started, but I taped the show on espn and I came home to find that I only got to see the first 20 minutes.  That happened with my hockey game recently too... they felt the need to show the end of a college lacrosse game where hte score was already 5-1... the game was over!  show the hockey!!  Grrr.

Wow,I am almost too excited to make a choice. I think that I will go with  Eight Belles,Pyro,Adriano,Cool Coal Man and Colonel John.
