I love that it challenges the assumption, that some of us are better than others.  It reminds of the quote from the bible,

"None of us are righteous, no, not one"

I think it doesn't make sense when you analyze it. If it were an eye for three eyes maybe. But not in that way.

It's really good, I think he meant that if someone attempts to fight with you and you retaliate in the same way or even differently, it is just ignorance for both parties, since both loses something, and if everybody fight with each other and retaliate over every little thing then eventually the whole world will live in ignorance and everybody will eventually go blind ( lose something) for no valuable reason in the first place.

I think thats its true. It means that revenge will not solve anything. If someone pokes someones eye ball out, and the person who was poked pokes the poker back, both end up hurt and nothing is solved. It is better to forgive and forget.
