about arguing about religion on yahoo?

why don't people get it? some people don't believe in christianity, islam, hinduism, buddhism and so on, they all have the exact same reason for sticking to their religion, it's what they believe in. there's not any proof that christianity is the right way to think, just like there's no proof that islam is right.

so what is it? do you get some sort of kick out of dissing each others culture and believes, talking **** while hiding behind your little avatar or display picture, never showing your face or standing by your words?

i think it's pathetic, and you ought to take care of your people instead of disrespecting them like this and making a fool of yourself.

what do you think about it?

  1. People believe what they believe and there is nothing we can do about it! It's like talking about someones kids. They get very defensive! You feel offended when someone says something to you that you take personally. So.... that's y there are wars and that's y there have always been wars... disagreements!

  2. I don't get it either, all religions seem to point to the same directives... love your neighbor, do on to others as is done to you. I don't get it, I personally don't believe in religion. We are all connected to source energy (god in other words). We all come from the same place and will return to the same place. If more people knew that they were creators and create their life experience by thought, we would have a much better world. People need to learn the law of attraction...

  3. I absolutely 100% agree and find it a little ironic that you just asked that because I was about to type the exact same question.

Having a question on religion is one thing, because this is Y! Answers after all, but it is not a forum (which they do have dedicated to those types of discussions) to have a never-ending argument over a subject that ultimately is based on personal inner belief that you are either taught or have come through life experience to choose to believe.

Over thousands of years, that's what it has been, never-ending, and will continue to be so as long as generations keep passing on their nonacceptance of others & their beliefs to their kids and so on.

As much as I like a religious argument every now and then, Y! Answers is not the place as it seems that the majority of extremists here (of whichever religion it may be) are incapable of having a normal intelligent conversation because it is usually comes down to bigotry, racism, swearing, & straight ignorance. Not to mention it is a place for questions and answers, not a forum.

Keep on treading the track you're on & see where ignorance will get you in life. You help build your own destiny, & if you choose to live with your blinders on & not accept that the world will not be exactly like you and have your exact beliefs no matter how much you try to BULLY them into it.

One Love, go figure out what that means. Peace.

  4. who knows

  5. I think you are so right. Every one s entitled to their own opinion and beliefs. Even people within the same religion don't think the same or even agree in every thing. I think is very stupid to criticize someone because of their believes or opinion. Its not only about religion. Many people on yahoo, instead of helping or giving their opinions on the subject they criticize the person. People start calling each other names. Another thing that bothers me a lot about people on yahoo is when they respond to questions with "Go kill yourself". People who can't accept other peoples beliefs or practices are immature. Accepting others beliefs does not mean that now you believe in the same thing. Some people to open their brains and stop being so closed minded. Everyone deserves respect no matter what religion, race, or culture they are from.

  6. I don't know and I don't participate, but reading your post it kinda seems like your just continuing it. If you do stuff like this it'll never end, but if you just ignore it eventually people will get bored.

  7. I think I need a nap. God's got my back. That's enough for me.

  8. You're contributing to this 'war' mister! And I wish it would stop.

  9. My purpose in that forum (as in any other) is to teach: people to think, and encourage them to do so.  Properly done, this must inevitably lead to the conclusion that there is no reason to believe in the existence of any sort of god, and it is provably useless to do so.  From time to time, someone learns this, which is encouraging.  Since religion is a detriment to any society, this is important.

  10. I don't.

  11. Who knows? who cares,

    if religion were stocks i'd

    burn my shares . . .

    " I thank god i'm an atheist "

    amen . . .

    peice instead of peices . . .

  12. Well, I'll say this. Whenever I'm feeling like I want A LOT of feedback for something that I've posted (who cares if it's quality feedback or not), it's straight to "Religion and Spirituality".

  13. It will NEVER live up to the Jonas War

  14. What you are doing would also be considered arguing about religion wouldn't it?

you dismissed every religion by saying there isn't any proof for any one of them.  That's not true, and it is an irresponsible statement.

the argument isn't a problem.  Discussing is good.

we've got lots of people on YA - seekers, defenders, jokers, scoffers...

---- Christians, Atheists, Muslims, Deists, etc.  all have people from each of these categories.

would you suggest that people hold their beliefs yet always in the back of their mind be thinking... but it's really not true so I'll just keep my mouth shut?

If we were talking about dogs it wouldn't be the same... when the issues are bigger the conflicts are more obvious.

    the disagreement isn't a problem

the vocalizing of it isn't a problem

the manner in which it is done can be

give me a thumbs up if you know the difference between discussing and reasoning with each other vs. forced conversions under threat of persecution by a group.

EDIT - we shouldn't dismiss the whole discussion... just realize that this is a necessary discussion.  Some attack people, some attack ideas, some attack both and sometimes both are blurred.

Look at my answers and tell me where I am doing this the wrong way... seriously, I will consider changing my method of response.

I try and attack ideas, defend ideas, and promote ideas... that is what you are doing here too.  Ideas can be life-saving or lethal.  Nothing is as powerful as an idea.  They must be discussed, weighed, attacked, defended, explained, and changed.

  15. I say this to everyone-- shut up and let people believe what they want, because bytrying to impose your beliefs on someone else unsolicited, you're acting like a dictator, almost like Hitler even.

  16. Just proves how some 'religious people' show their 'love.'

  17. I think its like anything else that there is no right answer to.. uninformed and self righteous.

  18. ppl with absolutely no life are bored and want to create drama b/c they have nothing better to do. Prob some 50yr old fat guy sitting at a desk at work who ran out of twinkies! thats who starts it!

  19. I;m not justifying "dissing" someone elses religion. But i for one am christian and i firmly believe in what i do. i think that other people feel the same way about their religion or belief so instead of trying to relate with someone they get frustrated and just start talkin smack

  20. I agree i am a muslim but i also respect other peoples religion and try not to get involved in these arguments evreryone has opinions but shouldnt argue or disrespect other people with different beliefs.

  21. i think ure right , theres too much hate in this world , what with Skinheads , KKKs, and this huge anti-Semite movement going on

  22. I'm sick and tired of religious controversy. Here in the US different activist groups have sued the state, cities, counties over the world CHRISTMAS. We are suppose to respect their religion but nobody seems to respect ours, to the point that during the Christmas season hardly anyone wishes you MERRY CHRISTMAS, instead they say HAPPY HOLIDAYS. But I wonder... what holiday? Christmas? then just SAY IT. So, lets all try to overlook religion and leave it a personal choise.

  23. There have always been blood shed over religion....

everyone wants everyone else to believe as they do...

everyone believes that their way is the right way....

some religions refuse to respect others beliefs and cultures...

Heres my beliefs,,,Set good examples with love and kindness, not threats and warnings of h**l fire

Do not judge others,  respect differences,

I am Christian and I am truly offended by the way some Christians think that they are the only ones worthy od Gods love...

And I am sure that there are some Islams who are offended by the Islams who promote violence.

Its an ongoing war that will never end because self-righteous people always think that they are holy and right,  we will see in the end.

  24. When you question someone's religion you question their judgment, character, morals, beliefs, etc... People take it like a personal attack.

I'm not saying that's logical - but it is what it is.

  25. People are passionate about what the believe.

Im a Christian and I get upset when people call me religious, though. Christianity is not Religion, its truth. I dont follow dogmas of the church. My faith is in Jesus Christ alone and He is my Lord and Savior.
