What do you think about the American government to have phrases like "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance, "In God We Trust" on money and "So Help You God" when taking the oath in legal courts?

  1. a separation of church and state does not presuppose that our entire government should be rooted in Atheism as a default religious choice. that's absurd. simply aknowledgeing God does not require anyone to refer to any particual religion. and if we remove God from the philosophical foundation our country is rooted in, we have nothing. We cant be created equally, or equal among the creator if we cant aknowledge that there is a creator.

on what universal and unalieable principles do we think our entire legal system is based?

  2. A pathetic, subtle and insidious form of propaganda.

  3. at the very least its a tradition and if your atheist you can respect tradition without being offended after all you left out the most important part (We are entitled by natures god and endowed by our creator) These our excerpts from the declaration of Independence doesn't really sound like they wanted nothing to do with god in gov't to me

  4. its wrong...that is why people left england and founded new colony's...to get away from the kings rein over them and lack of freedom of religion...this country was founded on the right to have God and as time went on the word God was put into a lot of things in our every day lives...i had no problem when i was in schooll saying the naional anthem or pledge of allegiance...but a bunch of cry baby's decided it was an infringement on their rights...s***w what others wanred or believed in...nobody made them say God...nobody said they had to look at Jesus's pitcutres in hallways...and if you dont trust God then dont read the words...why are those the only words on money people read anyhow...

  5. Regarding oaths in court, you have the option of another phrase.  It's ironic in a way because those who do not believe in God are in no way concerned with keeping an oath in God's name.  It only works for true believers.

The other phrases are a reflection of American history.  You don't have to like the past.  The United States was and is founded on freedom of religion and not necessarily freedom from religion.  Even atheism is technically a religion.  The United States has a long history of Christianity and tradition.  That is reflected in our holidays as well as our work week and moral standards.  It hasn't been until recently in the United States history that things traditionally associated with Christianity have been under coordinated attack.  If you are concerned, then do a comparison with a country that does not have religious freedom.  I think you will find remembering a little history better than a complete lack of choice.

  6. The elite who have control over this country are extremely spiritual and belong to secret societies who worship hidden gods and they print their beliefs all over the place.  They worship ancient Egyptian gods and place symbols like the the pyramid with the all seeing eye, or eye of horace, and so on, etc on the dollar  bill because they believe this holds power.

They have led the majority of people to believe that their god is the Christian god, but it is actually the opposite of the Christian god, with an opposite system of morals and beliefs.

  7. makes good sense to me.  you can see were the country has gone sense 1963 when the kennedy family started the down fall of morals. People no longer believe in their country. just look at history and it tells the story.

  8. It's OK by me.

  9. It's annoying because I'm an atheist and this country is supposed to be founded on freedom of religion, but I'm not going to make a big stink about it.

  10. They are the corner stones of our government and have been since the birth of our nation.

When a country flings aside the very principles it was founded on it will cease to exist.

  11. The American government was based on Christian beliefs and with those beliefs other religious groups were free to practice their beliefs freely or practice their non- beliefs.

Those that don't like it can leave, as far as I am concerned.

  12. It reflects the power of religion of US politics, I understand why it is so.Religion is very use full for the ruling class to oppress US citizens. The job of Church helps US Army and Police.

  13. It shouldn't mean anything.  The Constitution specifies a CLEAR separation between church and state.  Do I believe in God, yes.  But I don't think my beliefs should be forced on people either.

  14. Its stupid because "God" doesn't exist (it's just IMPOSSIBLE, folks!) The government has no right to use the word "God" (capitalized) in mottoes and pledges. Actually, a Florida court found that "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance is illegal under the constitution. Just look it up, I'm not lying!
